What do you think? Is The Son TV series ending at the right time? If it were up to you, would AMC have cancelled or renewed The Son for a third season?
Nooooo…. It had so much more to give.
It’s a travesty to end such a top quality well acted, well directed, and genuinely interesting quasi historical drama.
This is typical of most well done series. Network murder of anything worth watching.
Most programming and advertising seem to be aimed at 12 year olds.
TV mostly off. Read a book.
I absolutely loved this show . It was a refreshing and different . Me and my husband would look forward to watching it . I’m so sad that it won’t be continued . And angry . Not enough good shows like this on . The characters where all great and great acting . Love love the character of Eli . Love Pierce to . Just a great great show but like our other fav it has to end . I just don’t get it ? I love a good Western and great acting . I truly wish they would do… Read more »
I found The Son to be a fascinating slice of American pioneer life and history. I agree with other commenters that it was an opportunity to make bridges to what is happening between Mexicans and the US currently, as well as Native Americans. Pierce Brosnan carried the show, because he is incredibly charismatic, and played his character very well. The entire cast was good. I did not have as many issues with season 2 as some had. But I will say the promotion of the show was practically non-existent. I checked constantly for news of the premiere date for season… Read more »
I was disappointed in the finale. As one response explains below, if this was the final episode, too much was left untold. Who is the mother of Pete and Fin? What happened to the captive girl? How did Pete and Maria fare? What happened to Jeannie after she got rained on with the oil? What happened to her mother? There is more to be told here. And, flashbacks of Eli growing into manhood could continue. It’s very disappointing how producers so easily come up with shallow reality shows, but when we get something that is moving and expresses the nature… Read more »
So agree with the above comments -so much left unsaid!
PLEASE WE WANT SEASON 3 OF “THE SON”, PLEASEEEEEEE!!!! AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
I watched the final episode and, felt let down. It shows young Eli escaping from the Calvary and going off with the other white female captive but doesn’t explain how he became a Colonel or rich. Killing him off in 1915 could have been done differently and really needed a Season 3 to finish the story properly.
This is a bummer, i thought it had enough plot and story to tell much much more- especially at a time when there’s so much confusion and animosity with Mexico… it could have been a bridge. I really think the last episode was awful. Season 2 was a rushed mess and it could have been great. Sad sad wrap up
Too bad it.s not returning. ENjoyed it, seems like good shows end to quickly…
See a comment about it being violent, sure it is, itæs theme is the harsh life in mid 1800s and how that life formed a man, and his way of life… It is no fairytale.
Hi,
Just watched the Final episode of season 2, have loved the series & was looking forward to season 3 ,have just found this page to learn it is not happening disappointed doesn’t describe how I feel, good story telling & acting lost for reasons I can not fathom.
I was looking forward to season 3…….very disapointed!
I love The Son, and I am shocked and very disappointed that there will not be another season.
Shock? Lol
We love the son , was hoping for a season or more …..
We absolutely love the Son. Can’t believe it’s not being picked up for another season. It’s a show on the order of Yellowstone and we love that. I guess other viewers don’t feel the same way. We hope you change your mind.
Please keep it going, we need season 3
It truly was a great show, if you didn’t mind the fact that the writers stopped telling Eli’s story halfway through! Where did Eli and Elsa go when they left the Army and what did they do? How did Eli become “the Colonel” and such a sophisticated, powerful and wealthy oil baron? Who was the mother of his sons? Why did Jeanne Anne become such a hateful old woman, who did she marry and what was the storyline of her son, who was briefly mentioned as also being gay like her uncle Phinneus was? Why did her great, great nephew,… Read more »
Maria grew up in Texas and Ulysses grew up in Mexico. This is why he would have a Spanish accent
Enjoyed the first season— but after watching 2 episodes of the second, we couldn’t take it anymore. It was too violent and disgusting. Took it off the queue and won’t be watching the rest. No loss that it is ending.
