What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the NBC television network, the Transplant TV show originates in Canada and stars Hamza Haq, Laurence Leboeuf, John Hannah, Jim Watson, Ayisha Issa, Linda E. Smith, Torri Higginson, Gord Rand, Nora Guerch, and Ahmad Meree. Doctor Bashir Hamed (Haq) is a charismatic Syrian doctor with battle-tested skills in emergency medicine. He and his younger sister, Amira (Gulamgaus), flee their war-torn homeland and become refugees, struggling to forge a new life in Canada. When a horrific truck crash nearly kills a senior doctor right in front of him, Bash saves the doctor’s life and earns a residency in the biggest Emergency Department of the best hospital in Toronto. Bash tries to meet the demands of his new country and a new job, while trying to pay the bills, raise his little sister and carve out a new life for them both in this unfamiliar land. In season two, boss Dr. Jed Bishop (Hannah) has suffered a stroke and Bash and his team must adjust to both new colleagues and new challenges.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Transplant averaged a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.28 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (includes all DVR playback through 3:00 AM). Compared to season one, that’s down by 68% in the demo and down by 63% in viewership. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Though other economic factors are involved, the higher-rated shows usually get renewed and the lower-rated ones get cancelled. Find out how Transplant stacks up against other NBC TV shows.
Transplant has been renewed through season four. Season three will debut on October 12, 2023. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will NBC cancel or renew Transplant? The medical drama originates in Canada where it’s already been renewed for season three. It costs less for the peacock network to license this show than to produce an original series. So, despite the very low airings, I suspect Transplant will continue airing on NBC. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free alerts on Transplant cancellation or renewal news.
5/12/23 update: Transplant has been renewed for two more seasons by NBC.

What do you think? Are you glad two more seasons of the Transplant TV show will air on NBC? How would you feel if the network cancelled this Canadian TV series, instead?
Love Transplant! It’s really well done. Hope it comes back to NBC for a third season.
I found this show by accident here in the U.S. It was advertised very little compared to other NBC CBS, or ABC. Advertise it!
Transplant is one of new and great shows with feelings about how nationalities can add to our and other countries and make them greater for all.
I have tried to like every hospital based show within the last 30 years but none made a significant impression until I saw the first Transplant show; I was hooked immediately. I hadn’t seen anything like it. The show has characters that care about each other and their patients in a way that I have not been exposed to before. Bashar Hamid has heart, compassion, love, and demons that he has had to deal with. I’m an all American adult male, ex military, and understand the dilemma that Syrian people have had to go through. Too many mentally put all… Read more »
Miss Transplant. Bring it back!
I LOVE THAT SERIES!
Maybe if they don’t wait 2 years to start the next season. And change days it airs. And play 2 or 3 episodes, than take it off for a month. Than play 3 or 4 more, than take it off for another month. It can have a chance.
It seems like NBC was trying to kill this show.
Whomever writes the articles, you may want to recheck on renewals. Transplant was renewed for a 3rd season by NBC at the same time as Cananda
According to my communication with a network rep today, NBC has not made a decision on season three of Transplant yet.
Renew the dang show it’s a great show!
I hope Transplant is renewed!
But knowing how stupid NBC typically is with great shows I’ll probably be looking into how to get the Canadian channel that carry’s it.
We love Transplant! Please keep it available as is!
I want NBC only to renew Season 3 of Transplant! Please DON’T put it on another subscription-only channel such as Peacock. I will not continue it unless it’s on a network channel
I want Transplant season 3 to come to USA
I love Transplant! It should be renewed!!!
I like Transplant a lot. I would love to see more seasons ( especially after season 2’s finale)! I really think Saturday night is a very poor time slot for this show. There was also a long period of time from season 1 to season 2, and I saw no ads when season 2 was going to start. AND, in my area, it was pre-empted several times for sports. Publicity, advertising and a better time slot might do wonders for this show’s ratings.
