In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

I have been posting on this website since they brought Trauma back, and never advertised. Unfortunately for all of us, this hurt the show, because no one knew it was back on, because we were watching “24”. We all now know “24” is being canceled, hopefully NBC will give us back our Trauma. NBC please tell us what’s going on, are you bringing Trauma back, or is time for us to switch to cbs like we are doing already. Do you think we are all that stupid to watch re-runs. It does have in every newspaper (N) for new show,… Read more »
Come on NBC get it together. Trauma has been one of the best shows since ER. How many reruns of Law & Order can you do? How many of these crappy reality shows can you do. Get with it, CBS is kicking you around. If it wasnt for Trauma I wouldnt watch NBC at all.
NO, NO, NO!!!! they can’t get rid of Trama!!! that is the only show that I watch… I love it!!! Please do not cancel this show, it is the best!
I love trauma! Every show I like or begin to watch, the networks end up taking them off the air. They need to just let the show go for a while. They tend to pull shows from the air too early. They definitely should advertise more. If anything Mercy should be cancelled instead.
I startedwatching trauma in late March and I really like the show.
I am a new nurse and I love watching whatthe EMT’s and Paramedics do int he field beforethe patients gettome in the ER.
Good work NBC….hope you bring it back for season 2…medical shows seem to be winners these days.
Trauma is a fantastic show! There are very few shows out there that are worth watching today. This drama captured our attention from the pilot episode and we have been avid watchers ever since. I am devastated that this show would be cancelled. For those of us who do not enjoy mindless comedies, this show was a breath of fresh air. Reminding me of the historic shows like Emergency, Adam 12, Dragnet, etc this was an drama with plenty of action, exciting plots, great actors, and strong story lines. I am so disappointed in the decision to remove this from… Read more »
I am sorry NBC is taking Trauma off the air. I thought it was a great show but I guess business comes before anything else. Not enough people watched it to enable NBC to make money so, it is gone!! We wont take it personally (not much!!) it is just business.

Wow!
NBC ******** up a great show because they have the patience of caffeinated children? In others news: Sun sets in West.
Cancelled
Of course this show will be cancelled. It’s not a ridiculously simple, moronic half hour sitcom requiring a laugh track to make it seem funny.
This show by far is catchy and even if theirs no ads for it, it hooks you from the start. These new series of medical shows kind of pissed me off, but this show definately has an “it” factor. I urge NBC to bring this show back for a second season and cancel slow moving and slow moving dramas such as Mercy. The cast of Trauma is funny and ridiculous, but if this show had more hype and more ads, this can develop into an explosive show.
Great show… one of the only ones worth watching… way way too much sex, but other than that the medical situations are very intriguing and need to be developed. Get off the random sexual involvments… What ever happened to marriage and commitment in relationships anyway? Keep the show coming and develop its real potential.
Trauma is the only new show I watch on t.v. I watch all my shows on the DVR without exception. Many people I know do the same. The Networks really need to step into the future and realize television had changed forever and find a different way of measuring the ratings. I may just stop watching all together until a t.v. show has run it’s course and get the series from netflix.
First off this is the best medical show since ER. As a fire fighter I can tell you everyone in the medical field that I talk to watches this show, they love it. its the most realistic show out there its a hell of a lot better then grey’s anatomy ; where all the doctors do everything from MRI’s to surgery. Find me a doctor that does all that. And I’m no doctor but i know that they sure as hell don’t have sex in the hospital on there free time. My point is none of the shows out there… Read more »
I have loved Trauma since I saw the first episode. Unfortunately, they do no advertising for it, no one knew it was coming back on. I have said this before, and I will say it again, NBC please hear our pleas, we are tired of re-runs of SVU, and Law & Order. We are tired of these new reality shows. I have learned to look at the TV guide, if its a re-run, i switch channels. If its “A Minute to Win It”, i switch. I love Guy, but on the Food Netowork. Let’s all hope that CBS picks up… Read more »
