Last month we reported there would be no second season of the 24: Legacy TV show, at least “for now.” Now FOX has confirmed that 24: Legacy is cancelled. On the bright side, though, there is talk that 24 TV series franchise may continue as an anthology or event series.
24: Legacy starred Corey Hawkins as Eric Carter, an Army Ranger who becomes the target of a terrorist organization. The FOX cast also included Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits, Teddy Sears, Dan Bucatinsky, Anna Diop, Ashley Thomas, Charlie Hofheimer, Coral Pena, and Sheila Vand.
Deadline reports:
We have seen the last 24: Legacy but maybe not the last of the 24 franchise. Fox has opted not to renew the latest installment in the 24 franchise for a second season. Meanwhile, the network, producing studio 20th TV and producers Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer are exploring a potential new, more anthological/event series 24 incarnation.
[…]
Last month, Fox delayed renewal decision on the series until after the upfronts with the explanation that, because Hawkins is on Broadway in Six Degrees of Separation, his “schedule [did not] allow consideration for the fall,” Fox chairman Gary Newman said.

At the upfronts, Fox execs said that they wanted to sit down with Gordon to see where the franchise perhaps could go next. Talks are continuing, possibly with new incarnations that each features new storylines and characters.
24: Legacy A Look at the Ratings
24: Legacy premiered as quite the ratings sensation with its post-Super Bowl debut. However, the numbers soon fell. Overall, season one averaged a 1.40 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.124 million viewers. While they seems high for a cancelled show, those averages are skewed by the huge series premiere, which drew 17.576 million viewers. Compare that to the season finale in April, when only 3.423 million tuned in.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the 24: Legacy TV series? Will you tune in for a 24 anthology or event series? Let us know, below.
Boy you people don’t know when you have a good show. You take them off too soon without giving them a fair chance. 24 was a really good show, leave it alone. Give it one more chance.
I agree. We got one season and it was exciting. I’m going to quit watching all new shows altogether since every time a new show comes on it gets canceled. We’re just going to end the show at the end of season one? That’s pretty damn rude. We want to see what happens next. A great suggestion would be to take off some of the stupid reality TV shows!
Well, now that it’s been cancelled; maybe Corey Hawkins can return to The Walking Dead. They never dealt with the disappearance of his character. I wouldn’t mind having him back.
when are they going to give up on the franchise.
Cancellation of this mess was good thing.
OK, but no Jack Bauer.
I like the show
, not as good as the original, but still good. Hope to see more of 24
I looked forward to this show every Monday night. why oh why did you cancel it. It was action packed from the time it started til the end. What a shame another good show gone. If another one comes about I will definitely watch it!!!!
Loved the 24 series. However, 24: Legacy didn’t deliver for me and lost my interest midway through the season and I couldn’t keep watching it. It didn’t leave me at the edge of my seat at the end of the episode like the previous show did.
Corey Hawkins doesn’t cut it in this role
Corey Hawkins doesn’t cut it, very weak in that role.
I have been watching 24 ever it first started several years ago i loved it then and on the new 24 i loved it to was great i hope it is brought back and longer
I love the 24 series. I watched every episode of the original series with Kiefer Sutherland. The movies, and 24 legacy. I hope they bring the series back. A lot of stuff on tv these days is garbage
Fox seems to cancel the good shows and renew the shows that aren’t any good. 24:Legacy was a really good show. It was probably up against other stations that had popular shows so they need to put it in a time slot that don’t have anything popular on another network! Please keep the 24 going! It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just like APB did and they cancelled that also.
I liked APB too and yes it was cancelled
The problem with or great thing about 24, depending on how much you loved it, was, is and always will be that 24 and any configuration of that franchise was, is and always well be JACK BAUER, first, last and none other. I personally liked this show immensely; however, it was not 24 nor shall any other permutation of the franchise ever be 24 without the inimitable original lead character. He was simply so engrained in the consciousness (in a very good way) of the 24 viewer that it would take a rebirth with that character (and, probably, Kiefer Sutherland… Read more »
FOX SUCKS. 24 Legacy was a damn good show!
Rosey, I agree 100%!! With 24 Legacy, Fox FINALLY had a great show on TV for the first time since “Touch” was aired…and then cancelled. I don’t know why they give us these awesome shows for a season or two if we’re lucky and then go and cancel them. There’s NOTHING on Fox now to even give me a reason to turn my TV to Fox. #FoxFailYetAgain
I didn’t miss an episode. I liked it. I hope they do figure out something.
24 Legacy was an excellent show watched everyone, but Fox like many other
companies seem to cancel shows for reasons We do not understand but then
continue other shows well beyond their sell by date. NCIS has lost its two
best characters but is still on air Other companies cancelled great shows
like CSI New York & Others …………………..Shame….!!!!!
