Last month we reported there would be no second season of the 24: Legacy TV show, at least “for now.” Now FOX has confirmed that 24: Legacy is cancelled. On the bright side, though, there is talk that 24 TV series franchise may continue as an anthology or event series.
24: Legacy starred Corey Hawkins as Eric Carter, an Army Ranger who becomes the target of a terrorist organization. The FOX cast also included Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits, Teddy Sears, Dan Bucatinsky, Anna Diop, Ashley Thomas, Charlie Hofheimer, Coral Pena, and Sheila Vand.
Deadline reports:
We have seen the last 24: Legacy but maybe not the last of the 24 franchise. Fox has opted not to renew the latest installment in the 24 franchise for a second season. Meanwhile, the network, producing studio 20th TV and producers Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer are exploring a potential new, more anthological/event series 24 incarnation.
[…]
Last month, Fox delayed renewal decision on the series until after the upfronts with the explanation that, because Hawkins is on Broadway in Six Degrees of Separation, his “schedule [did not] allow consideration for the fall,” Fox chairman Gary Newman said.

At the upfronts, Fox execs said that they wanted to sit down with Gordon to see where the franchise perhaps could go next. Talks are continuing, possibly with new incarnations that each features new storylines and characters.
24: Legacy A Look at the Ratings
24: Legacy premiered as quite the ratings sensation with its post-Super Bowl debut. However, the numbers soon fell. Overall, season one averaged a 1.40 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.124 million viewers. While they seems high for a cancelled show, those averages are skewed by the huge series premiere, which drew 17.576 million viewers. Compare that to the season finale in April, when only 3.423 million tuned in.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the 24: Legacy TV series? Will you tune in for a 24 anthology or event series? Let us know, below.
Corey Hawkins playing the character of Eric Carter did a good job and seeing the return of Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) was for me the highlight of the whole series. What annoyed me about 24 legacy was how political correctness was heavily peppered through the series. All the white characters with the exception of maybe one were either jerks, criminals, cowards and incompetent. Of course the sole white character who did have integrity just happened to be gay. The other “good guys” were non-Caucasians. Maybe not such a good idea to disenfranchise the majority of the viewership (that being white… Read more »
You hire a guy on broadway, after ditching Keifer Sutherland?
You just can’t replace “Jack Bauer”, but, get us all hipped up and cancelled….
The 24 franchise will always deliver. Very upset Fox cancelled.
You can’t have 24 without Jack Bauer.
please please please bring it back I love this show
I love 24 Legacy, don’t cancel it.
Only if Corey remained the main character.
I LOVE THIS SHOW, CONTINUAL ACTION LIKE THE ORIGINAL SHOW. I hope the franchise reconsiders. Maybe another day and time perhaps. I think it’s amazing how some of these senseless and ignorant shows are being renewed but yet good storylines like this one are not. What is the saying about our society.
I love this show. Kiefer is now in another show, but I still loved the 24 lagacy. Would have loved to see another season.
I agree. Keifer is making Designated Survivor work and he’s also co-producer of 24 Legacy.
The whole 24 Series including Legacy – Great. Did prefer Kiefer in series but Legacy still good.
24 is Kiefer Sutherland. No Kiefer, no interest in viewing any versions. Did not view Legacy, nor did any of the numerous 24 fans I know.
Never was a 24 guy from the beginning. This one was no exception and worse than previous. Sometimes you got to clear out the junk. No offense to the 24 diehards.
I thought 24 was very entertaining. I want it back. Dang, every time we get a new show on that’s worth anything it gets canceled. We can’t just be left hanging on season one.
N0 loss. It wasn’t that good anyway.
I’m very disappointed to see that 24 legacy will be cancelled. i loved that show.
