NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Disappointed… This was turning to be a good show. There was sufficient quirkiness to make this interesting.
I was starting to get into Allegiance & then it was cancelled. I was disappointed & have no interest in watching Slap. I hope the last episodes of Allegiance along with a series finale are aired. It’ll bring closure to us fans.

What?!? Dang it! I really enjoyed the show. All the characters were right-on with the casting. So sorry to see it go. I really looked forward to watching the show each week. This week, I viewed the episode of Allegiance BEFORE I viewed The Blacklist which is my favorite show. ( Blacklist’s first season made it my favorite show, second season was so, so, let’s see how it does the 3rd season.)
I enjoyed watching Allegiance — hope NBC airs the remainder of the episodes; sorry there will be no closure.
It’s online. Hulu and NBC website.
I really thought that was an interesting show. They should at least show all of the episodes made for season 1.
Wow! Please say it isn’t so. My wife and I were just checking our DVR to find Allegiance and noticed that it didn’t tape. After researching what happened, we were extremely disappointed to find out that it had been canceled! I’m so surprised because just about everyone we know absolutely loved the show. Including my 78 year old in laws. Please bring it back or at the very least air the remaining episodes! Thank you……….
I’M SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CANCELLATION OF THIS SHOW. I HAVE NOTICED THAT EACH YEAR NBC WILL CANCEL GOOD SHOWS. PLEASE MARKET SHOWS TO AIR ON NIGHTS THAT ARE NOT SO COMPETITIVE. I REALLY DID LIKE THE SHOW “ALLEGIANCE”.
What is wrong with you ABC? I loved that show and the actors. You never gave it a chance. Who cares about THE SLAP???? You substituted a dumb show for a great show. I’m very dissappointed in you
It’s NBC
Loved this show cannot believe it’s been cancelled. Made a point to be home to watch it. This show could have gone in a lot of different directions. We don’t feel it was given a fair chance to take off. What a shame!
Excellant show, didn’t dissapoint in ANY way. Stupid decision after only 5 airings.
I can’t believe you canceled the show. I hate when a network leaves is hanging. The network has to give it more time. Our lives are very different and getting to sit down everytime a show comes on doesn’t always happen. This show was great and iam really disappointed you canceled it.
Can’t believe The Slap continues vs.Allegiance. Saw the original Slap and this one is pale in comparison. Wife and I both Allegiance fans. Won’t watch on line.
I cannot believe the rating for Allegiance were so low. Every episode was fast paced and easy to follow without emphasis being placed on over sexual innuendo. I think NBC is making a terrible mistake by canceling this show and because of that, there will be even less NBC that my television tunes in to.
This is a really good show with great cast. They should have given it a chance to catch on-there is so much on now that it takes awhile to figure out what is worthwhile to watch. This is definitely SO much better than so many other shows on.
