Today, the cable channel also announced a fourth season renewal for the Chesapeake Shores series. There will be just six episodes this time around. Could that be an indication that the TV show will be replaced by one or more movies that focus on other characters? We’ll have to wait and see.
HALLMARK CHANNEL ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT DEAL ON MOVIE SPIN-OFF OF HALLMARK CHANNEL’S SUCCESSFUL SERIES ‘CHESAPEAKE SHORES’
Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey to Star in Spin-off Based on Characters From “Chesapeake Shores”
Hallmark Channel announces it has greenlit a spin-off movie based on characters from its original series “Chesapeake Shores.” The world of “Chesapeake Shores” will expand into the movie genre with more stories from the O’Brien sisters, Abby, Bree and Jess, played by Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey, respectively. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks’ bi-annual Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
“Our viewers have fallen in love with the O’Brien sisters, characters filled with pure joy, humor and heart,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We are excited to dive deeper into their roles and shed more light on each of their journeys as these women balance romance, friendship, and family.”
The movie is based on characters from the novels Chesapeake Shores by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods. Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey will reprise their roles of Abby O’Brien, Bree O’Brien and Jess O’Brien.
With the winter weather dreary in Chesapeake Shores and their own love lives in a complicated state, Abby (Ory), Bree (Ullerup) and Jess (Mailey), adventure to Rome for the wedding of a childhood friend. While in Rome, they discover the wedding plans are in complete chaos and the bride may have a case of pre-wedding jitters because she has gone missing. In an attempt to find the bride, the O’Brien sisters scour the sites of Rome and work to create a happily ever after, while ultimately realizing the romance they each deserve back home in Chesapeake Shores.
What do you think? Do you like the sound of this movie? Do you think movies will end up replacing the Chesapeake Shores TV series?
I lovveeeee this show!! Great story lines and beautiful scenery!!! I look forward to this during the summer. The actors/ actresses are incredible!! The idea of a movie is absolutely wonderful!!
I have watched this lovely show on Netflix in Australia and would love to see Series 4 and. a movie
I have watched 3 series of this show on Netflix in Australia and would really love to see more. Keep it coming❤️
My favorite show!
I love this series and look forward to it every summer. I like the idea of the spin off movie.
I agree with other viewers that movie spin offs of the characters sounds great, but PLEASE do not cancel this series. KEEP IT GOING. Our whole family watches this after our get together dinner from granddaughter, her Mom and Dad and Grandparents. Everyone of us has a favorite character and couple. Keep up the series and thanks for such great family movies.
I love the original series Chesapeake Shores and think that a movie to expand the sisters characters could prove to be very interesting. Please, Please Hallmark Channel don’t cancel this series that I love so much as I do everything that Hallmark Channel presents. I love, love this channel. Thank you so much!!!
Loved this seies. I agree with others – a movie
based just on the sisters wouldn’t be as interesting. Such great characters in this multi-generational story. The actors (especially the older ones!) are top-notch. It’s the story-line that needs some resuscitation. If the writers focussed on the parents & the grandmother a little more as they did in season 1, instead of just the younger generation, it would be a well-rounded & interesting program. Has fallen flat & predictable. But I will still tune in for Season 4!
Not interested in a movie following the sisters. This is not what interests me, I enjoy all the characters fromt he series Chesapeake Shores.
The movie sounds just okay to me. Would rather they put more effort into the series, which is where the real story is, based on the entire family.
Love, love the idea!…want both! If we can’t have both than keep Chesapeake Shores going.
Movie sounds great . Would be great if they kept the series going along with a few spin off movies!!! This is a series that the whole family watches from 7 years old to 45 and that’s hard to find these days!! Keep up the great job Hallmark.
Well it would be a fun movie but I don’t vote for it In place of the Chesapeake Shores series. I love the sisters but I also love all the other characters on the show. The entire cast is awesome…would really be disappointed to see the show as is, end.
Great idea!!!!! My hubby and I both love the series.
Yes, sounds good! Love most anything Hallmark!
