Neil Patrick Harris, who is a complete riot in the current hit show How I Met Your Mother and has wowed audiences in musicals like Sweeney Todd and Rent, starred in a (1989-1993) show about a very young genius and doctor — Doogie Howser, M.D.
Created by the prolific minds of Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley, the show followed Doogie as he faced the problems of a physician and typical teenage life (alongside best friend Vinnie). The concept was said to have been inspired by the story of Howard Zucker who became an MD at age 22 (and who also had a cousin in programming at ABC).
The show ended its four-year run in 1993 with episode number 97 entitled “What Makes Doogie Run?”. In the episode, Doogie is questioning his genius gifts and seeks inspiration outside the world of medicine. Fans of the show have been waiting to see the episode again for quite some time. Now, the wait seems to be over!
The series finale of Doogie is coming to DVD as part of the season four set that features 22 episodes on four DVDs. The doctor is finally in!
