TV show description:
Young intern Dr. James Kildare (Richard Chamberlain) works in the fictional metropolitan hospital known as Blair General. While working to master his profession, he tries to win the respect of the hospital’s senior physician, Dr. Leonard Gillespie (Raymond Massey).
Dr. Gillespie tells the young doctor, “Our job is to keep people alive, not to tell them how to live.” James ignores the advice and the two often end up trying to help patients in ways beyond their medical needs.
The character of Dr. Kildare was initially seen in film, and went on to radio, comic books, and comic strips.
