This was a positive start for the new series, particularly in viewership, but the demo could have been stronger — especially considering the fairly lackluster competition (Scandal on ABC and Rock Center with Brian Williams on NBC).
Compared to the season premiere of The Mentalist a year ago, CBS was up by 10% in the demo (vs a 2.8 rating) and down by 1% in viewers (vs 13.56 million).
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Elementary TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?
Love the show! Please renew! Smartly done! Great chemistry among characters. Comedy well blended throughout. Jonny lee phenom!
Keep the show. I watch it on line and aside from Big Bang this is really the only show I watch with any kind of regularity. I agree with Ashleigh when she suggests that comparisons between various renderings of Holmes are unnecessary and usually pointless. This one is good in its own right and really deserves to be developed further. Best Wishes to all fans of the show, SBP
Keep the show. It is great (and is the only thing on CBS that I watch).
Elementary is a great show and CBS needs to renew this one for the fall. And, I am not a regular viewer of much of anything on network TV other than HIMYM and BBT, both also CBS series, so if it has ME hooked (and it does,) well that is really saying something. It’s smart, with a good back story that continues to unfold and keeps the viewer interested and intrigued. Liu and Miller have a great chemistry. And well Miller, he’s just a sexy, smart guy with a great English accent and where is the downside there?
Love the show, please renew!
This is a grat detective show!!! I love Sherlock. Please RENEW this show.
Love this show, one of the best cop drama shows on the box.
I am thoroughly enjoying this show. Great acting by all. Please pick up another season!
I tried…but after BBC´s Sherlock there´s no way I can watch this. This series should be made Before BBC´s Sherlock , or 20 years later. At the same time is unfair with Johnny Lee miller, that is an awesome actor.
BBC Sherlock is my favorite show. Followed by Doctor Who. But I love Elementary. The thing is you can’t compare them. One is practically a miniseries the other is more of the usual police drama but with the modern twist of Sherlock Holmes. Each personifies Sherlock in a unique way that I feel still rings true for the original. I really like the emphasis on Sherlock’s drug use in Elementary for example. I see no reason why both can’t be enjoyed or considered well done, for they both are extremely so. I for one really hope Elementary continues.
The show is even better when watching it a second time.
The plots can be complicated, but that is good.
Holmes is quite different from the books, but very entertaining.
It’s a great show.. definitely a keeper!!
I am really enjoying this show, the only one on my radar to watch every week. Please don’t cancel! It has some real potential. Love Jonny Lee Miller’s subtle British humor, I find myself wanting to catch every word. Lucy Lui brings some interesting chemistry. I am holding faith that this show will be renewed. CBS, please don’t let me down!
As far as I can tell, its the best new show out there. And,
at least you need to think and use a brain cell while you watch it.
meh…. it’s not Sherlock Holmes.. it’s a police procedural jumping on the Sherlock Holmes bandwagon to cash in. The writing is typical, dumbed down CBS fare. Shame really… Miller is a very good actor. He deserves better. Liu.. meh… No thank you.. when I want my Sherlock Holmes fix, I’ll watch reruns of the Granada Jeremy Brett series and wait for the Brilliant BBC Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
I like Elementary alot. It’s funny at times & intrestingtoo. Don’t Cancel
