The original cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation reunited for a special episode of Family Guy on FOX last night. Though they are only seen in animated form, it is the first time that they’ve all been onscreen together since February 13, 1990 — in an excellent episode of Next Generation titled “Yesterday’s Enterprise.”
This episode of Family Guy is called “Not All Dogs Go to Heaven” and guest stars Patrick Stewart, Levar Burton, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Wil Wheaton, Denise Crosby, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, and Jonathan Frakes. There are also live-action cameos by Rob Lowe (The West Wing) and Adam West (Batman).
In the story, the family attends a local Star Trek convention. When Stewie (Seth MacFarlane) doesn’t get to ask the Next Generation cast a question, he decides to create his own transporter and kidnap the actors. They end up spending the entire day together and it’s not quite the happy experience the evil baby genius had in mind.
In the secondary story, Meg (Mila Kunis) catches the mumps at the convention and spends a long time in bed, watching Kirk Cameron talk about religion on cable. She “finds God” and encourages her family to do the same. Dog Brian tells them that he’s actually an atheist and that doesn’t go over too well — with the family or the community.
