The Hayworth siblings and their families will return. Home Economics has been renewed for a third season on ABC. The second season’s finale airs next Wednesday, May 18th.
A family comedy series, the Home Economics TV show stars Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza, Sasheer Zamata, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree, and JeCobi Swain. The show takes a look at the heartwarming yet super-uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult siblings of the Hayworth family. Connor (Tatro) is the youngest and most successful sibling of the family. He runs his own private equity firm and his marriage has fallen apart. He has a daughter named Gretchen (Bearman). Tom (Grace) is the middle sibling and is a middle-class author who is struggling. He is married to Marina (Souza), a former attorney, and they have three kids. Sarah (McGee) is the eldest sibling and an out-of-work child therapist who’s barely making ends meet. She is married to Denise (Zamata), a teacher, and they have two kids and live in a cramped Bay Area loft.
The second season of Home Economics averages a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.92 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 29% in the demo and down by 25% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It’s a lower-range performer when compared to ABC’s other scripted shows. In the live+7 day ratings (which includes delayed viewing), the series averages a 0.50 demo and 2.89 million viewers.

A launch date for season three will be announced this summer. Today, ABC also renewed America’s Funniest Home Videos (season 33), American Idol (season 21), The Bachelor (season 27), Big Sky (season three), Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (season three), The Conners (season five), A Million Little Things (season five), Shark Tank (season 14), and The Wonder Years (season two).
Love this show! Nuanced quality. Script delivered brilliantly and yes, you have to pay attention at times to underlying humor in all that occurs. I love that most of all. Mature take on class distinction, family connections/love, LGBTQIA issues normalized in some respect (class, family remains foundation) we all want to love and be loved, be safe and watch our children grow. Love love this show. Just binged on HULU.

I just stubble on this show as it auto played on hulu after watching the latest episode of a million little things, I was quite impressed. The show has a good story line, it’s funny but also has good family dynamics and an intriguing story line. Im currently finishing the last few episodes of season 2 right before the finally in a couple days. I’m very glad to see that they’re will be a season 3. Can’t wait
