Well, there’s one dangerous situation that Christopher Chance can’t escape. FOX has cancelled Human Target after two seasons on the air. No season three.
Human Target follows a private bodyguard and security expert (Mark Valley) who protects his clients by integrating himself into their lives and becaomes a “human target.” He’s aided by his business partner, Winston (Chi McBride), and a tech genius named Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley). In the second season, a former client (Indira Varma) becomes his benefactor and an expert thief (Janet Montgomery) joins the team to seek redemption.
The series debuted back in January 2010 to a positive 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.12 million total viewers. Subsequent episodes had some solid numbers (thanks in large part to American Idol) but the latter part of the season really declined. The season finale brought in a mere 1.9 rating and season one averaged a 2.9 rating and 9.6 million viewers.
The show was on the bubble for renewal last May but FOX ultimately decided to give the series a second chance to get better ratings. That didn’t pan out.

Last November, season two of Human Target debuted to a week 1.8 rating in the demo and 6.59 million viewers. The network kept it on through the holidays, the ratings got worse, and by January it seemed like they’d given up on the series. The final episodes of the season performed a bit better but, again, thanks to being teamed American Idol. Season two averaged a 1.7 demo rating and 6.4 million viewers.
As one of the network’s lowest scripted series of the season, it seemed like just a matter of time before FOX would cancel Human Target. Last night, they officially did. Despite some devout fans, Human Target just wasn’t a winner in the ratings. After 25 episodes, the show is over.
What do you think? Should Human Target have been renewed for season three? Why didn’t more people watch the TV series?

bring it back!
I love the show it is great and a season three must go on so others can watch it too and enjoy the drama. I really want to see what happens between ms.pucci and Mr.chance.
I saw a few episodes of Human Target when it first aired, but was distracted by personal issues. With the El Rey network replaying the entire series, I’ve REALLY started digging this show. Great writing. Great acting. Great action. The characters are engaging. The stories, fresh. I’m disappointed that it was cancelled so soon. I think the timing was bad.
With the upsurge of great programming coming from DC (on The CW), I think there is now a home for Human Target. I hope it may be reconsidered.
Todays viewers may just wanna watch a semblance of themselves; zombies. Look who they vote for; the Demwit party. Human Target had its humor and action. Bring it on.
I thought Human Target, as it debuted was both well casted and well written. I think it would have or would be a better fit for a network like the CW since the CW has DC shows airing currently. The biggest issue with tv series I have is that as soon as you see one you like and enjoy watching it gets cancelled. I think Human Target’s biggest failure was being a Fox show. It simply didn’t get the ratings to get it renewed. It’s not always the show itself but, which shows it is competing against. I did feel… Read more »
I believe that is should not have been canceled. It had a lot of potential. I agree that season 1 was better than season 2, but if you make no mistakes you never learn. I think they could have made a season three (maybe change the producer/writter whatever) and fix those “mistakes”. I think Russel T. Davies would do an incretible job. And hey, who knows, Mark Valley is only 6 years older, currently (51) maybe he can still play the part 😉
What I know is, that I started watching season 1 at six and a half afternoon time, and at about ten in the morning I had seen it all, including season 2. I loved Mark Valley and the whole team. It was much better than NCIS, and CSI and all the other series that I have watched in the past. It’s very sad to hear that because of economical benefits, the series won’t be continued. I ‘d definitely pay for a third season…
I just got to know about this TV series, human target just two months ago, 2015. I guess I was not really aware of it till now because, I am not really too into TV series. But to my surprise, in my busy schedule, I had to keep up late night just to watch the human target. It is so interesting. I wonder if it was given the right kind of exposure it it needed for people to watch.
Its really sad when the most stupid of reality tv shows… are watched by the bulk of humanity and such great well-crafted character driven shows like Human Target….
are neglected…..
I love that show what kind of an idiot would cancel that show . if you know that morons name just told me. I will kick their ass.
Yes, it deserves a second season. And about the reason for canceling the show, because of the ratings I have one word: Bull ****.
There are many TV Series as good as this with the same ratings that have 5 or more seasons.
There is another reason for canceling it.
And I totally agry with Tom Mack. The same thing happened with the Hostages too.
My husband and I loved the show maybe change the day so it’s not competing with American idol….
Human Target was one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. I still think CBS liked the concept and modeled Person of Interest after it. Christopher Chance is the kind of hero that everyone prays is still out there in this world. Unfortunately, the last episode of the second season may have caused its cancellation. The CIA does not like TV shows that make them look bad. The “Marshall Pucci” depicted them as cold-blooded killers, drug-smugglers, and everything in-between. The recent cancellation of Matador is yet another example. FOX could redeem itself and put this show back on.… Read more »
I think it only got better in season two and when I was introduced to it and finished season two I was extremely disappointed in fox for cancelling season three human target I’ve reciently introduced my closests friends and family and they all love it and they ve only seen season one I feel bad cause they don’t know it was left hanging concidering most ppl I know use Netflix or DVD due to no commercials so what ever rating you have on tv can atleast double that once it hit Netflix and DVD I had it on my laptop… Read more »
