What can fans expect from the new season of Last Man Standing? Executive producer Kevin Abbott recently spoke with TV Guide about how the FOX TV show will address the COVID-19 pandemic.
The comedy series, which was just renewed for a ninth season, revolves around Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), the marketing director of the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores and a “man’s man”. His family doesn’t see eye-to-eye with him so it can sometimes be a little tough for Mike to stand his ground and stay in touch with his inner man. The cast also includes Nancy Travis, Hector Elizondo, Amanda Fuller, Christoph Sanders, Molly McCook, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams, and Krista Marie Yu.
Speaking to TV Guide, Last Man Standing EP Kevin Abbott said the FOX series’ ninths season will tackle the COVID-19 pandemic:
The world has changed. Everything we had planned has gone out the window.
We try to keep it as real as we can. The virus would have impacted the [Last Man Standing] universe. I’m going to have to look at, what happened to pot shops? What was that experience like? I guarantee you Outdoor Man will be facing the repercussions of the economy. How did lockdown affect outdoor equipment use? How are they going to re-open? We will ask ourselves all those questions to see how lockdown affected all of that.”
Season nine of Last Man Standing is slated to premiere on FOX during the 2020-21 season.

we love the last man standing and we don’t want it to end please keep it on cuz we have nothing better to watch but last man standing is the greatest show we always love to watch it

I love Last Man Standing, best Family Sitcom since the 1st 9 Seasons of Rosanne❤. Very relatable, likeable, realistic Cast. Tim, Nancy, their kids, Hector. Nancy & Tim appear to actually being married. Kudos on hiring them, & thank you. Hugh Phillips, Phoenix, Az
I think that’s a great idea for the show. Although I’m also curious what they had planned prior to the pandemic. I love this show and hope it can last for more seasons to come. It was cut short before and I’m always thinking is this gunna be the last season and if it is I’ll hate that.
Love the show but I really don’t care to relive all this CV-19 stuff. Watching a show with months of lockdown will be depressing. Sure, touch on it but don’t dwell. We need light-hearted laughs right now and that is something LMS is good at providing. Also, agree that original Mandy was a much better fit. Looking forward to the new season. Hope Hollywood gets back to work soon.
Love this show, Tim and all the others do such a wonderful job of making me feel family is so important to everything in life. Hope and pray it goes on as long as they can.

LMS and 1 other show are the only 2 I make sure I watch. I already miss both Eve and the prior Mandy. I also miss Joe, Jay Leno, as long as they stop him from being a whiner.
