What can fans expect from the new season of Last Man Standing? Executive producer Kevin Abbott recently spoke with TV Guide about how the FOX TV show will address the COVID-19 pandemic.
The comedy series, which was just renewed for a ninth season, revolves around Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), the marketing director of the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores and a “man’s man”. His family doesn’t see eye-to-eye with him so it can sometimes be a little tough for Mike to stand his ground and stay in touch with his inner man. The cast also includes Nancy Travis, Hector Elizondo, Amanda Fuller, Christoph Sanders, Molly McCook, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams, and Krista Marie Yu.
Speaking to TV Guide, Last Man Standing EP Kevin Abbott said the FOX series’ ninths season will tackle the COVID-19 pandemic:
The world has changed. Everything we had planned has gone out the window.
We try to keep it as real as we can. The virus would have impacted the [Last Man Standing] universe. I’m going to have to look at, what happened to pot shops? What was that experience like? I guarantee you Outdoor Man will be facing the repercussions of the economy. How did lockdown affect outdoor equipment use? How are they going to re-open? We will ask ourselves all those questions to see how lockdown affected all of that.”
Season nine of Last Man Standing is slated to premiere on FOX during the 2020-21 season.

Last Man Standing is one of the best shows on TV….ever! The writing is superb, and the chemistry between all the diverse characters is so believable to real life! I too miss the original Mandy, and hope Eve will return for as many episodes as possible. LOVE THIS SHOW!!

I had never heard of last man standing until it was cancelled and now I have 30 recorded. I had to go CW33 to find older. My favorite show, laugh out loud funny.

I love Last Man Standing but I miss the previous Mandy. The show is not the same and I really watch all the reruns. Not to say the new Mandy is not a good actress but they were huge shoes to fill. It’s bad enough that Eve had to leave. With the two of them gone it’s just not the same. I realize it can’t be the same but the level is just not as good. I love Tim Allen and the rest of the cast. I cant wait either , I’m a loyal fan, I love Tim Allen ,I love hes a conservative and get the message out. What he says is funny but true also . May they have MANY more seasons .

I really love this show it’s hilarious with Tim Allen & the other characters, Ryan can get on my nerves but Tim, & Vanessa make a great couple & funny together, & eve reminds of tim they have great father – daughter chemistry I read where Amanda fuller said Tim was like a 2nd Dad to her that was really
