What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez, and Tom Welling. The supernatural procedural centers on Lucifer Morningstar (Ellis) who abandoned his throne, retired to Los Angeles, opened up a nightclub, and started helping LAPD Detective Chloe Decker (German) crack cases. Now with his mother (Helfer) taken care of, in season three, Lucifer wants to figure out who kidnapped him and why his angel wings have returned. He also has to deal with a new rival for Chloe’s attention, Lieutenant Marcus Pierce (Welling), who, unlike Lucifer, is strategic, reserved, and well-respected.
Season Three Ratings
The third season of Lucifer averaged a 0.83 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.30 million viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 20% and down by 10%, respectively. Find out how Lucifer stacks up against the other FOX TV shows.
Lucifer was cancelled by FOX, but was later picked up for season four by Netflix. Season four debuts May 8, 2019. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Although it premiered with okay numbers, the ratings for Lucifer are even lower than last year’s (and those weren’t very good). I suspect it will be back for a fourth season but it could easily be cancelled due to the low ratings. For now, I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with breaking developments. I think DC Universe should bring Lucifer back on their new soon to start DC UNIVERSE Stream, this is just so it can be given the chance to fully play out for Lucifer and Chloe and then Amenadiel gets his wings back.
heartbroken. Was the only show I never missed. Was very different from all the other (predictable) shows. However, since first season had so many layers (reminded me of the lyrics in “Jesus Christ, Superstar”), did fear the writers would not be able to keep up the cleverness. Wish it had continued.
This news makes me sad… it is rare to find a witty show anymore.

Why would they cancel such an ironic series? I believe it’s a way for that TV station to make a lot better rating somehow and make more money..

Please, just one more season to close out the story line. Lucifer is the only FOX programming I watch.
I really like the show and would love to see it come back with a season 4. Here’s to hoping Fox will rethink their cancellation of this show and not disappoint us the viewers like they have in the past when they cancelled good shows before. Fox you should really reconsider this snd not disappoint us again.
As always TV execs don’t know or can’t see quality! Lucifer was and always will be a great show. Netflix or Hulu should pick it up. Prime time TV is gone!
