CBS hasn’t announced that Medium has been cancelled but, while attending an event last weekend, Patricia Arquette said that the show will indeed be ending this season.
Like her character, series star Arquette can indeed see the future. Now, Medium creator Glenn Gordon Caron has confirmed that the drama is finished. Of the last episode, Caron wrote, “Allison Dubois will dream her last dream on Medium Friday, January 21st. In what we believe will be a series defining episode, Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink.”
The ratings for Medium have taken a real hit this season. Despite frequently winning its timeslot, the drama has averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.41 million viewers. CBS reduced the number of episodes to just 13 as a result.
What do you think? How would you like to see Medium end? Should some of the characters die or should Allison lose her abilities? How about Joe and Allison finally getting a good night’s sleep?

I’m sorry about Medium. I love the show – it’s such a normal family life in a sense. And being psychic myself, I can certainly relate to Allison, except I don’t have face-to-face conversations with dead people – I talk to them only in my mind. I hope that they don’t get divorced – that would be terrible!
This was a groundbreaking show in many ways: the first real series to feature a psychic/medium, the first since “Little House” to portray an actual family, and the first show to experiment with in-show advertising. The pilot episode of Medium is still my all-time favorite, followed by “In Sickness and Adultery” also a first-season show. I know the real Allison has attempted to do other shows such as “Soul Testimony” but they never got off the ground. Maybe the ending of Medium will open the door for Allison to do these shows and make them successful. As television shows go,… Read more »
I just can’t understand this. I watch Medium every week and know many others who do. So many good shows are ending only to be replaced with these stupid reality shows. Soon I will just get rid of cable as there will be nothing to watch on TV.
I am so sad that Medium is cancelled. I love the context, content, characters, dynamics, family and relationships. It’s my favorite show. I really do hope that another station will pick it up. That would be a smart move on the station’s part since there are 6.8 million plus viewers of the show.
I cannot believe they have canceled Medium again. Hey USA you picked up Law -in-Order CI please pick up Medium. There are still allot of people that watch this show. =[
so sorry to see “allison and joe” go….Friday nights won’t be the same
This is a top notch show, the writers and actors deliver a VERY entertaining television program. In my home we have all the premium cable choices and so many times we find nothing to watch! I am very sad about this.
I’ve been watching Medium since the first season and I love it! I followed it from NBC and don’t even watch that channel anymore. Medium still has life left in it and viewers that want to see it.
UGH..so mad…..I did boycott FOX after they cancelled the show Reunion a few years back…I spent too much time on it & then they pulled it. Will never watch a new Fox show..(I grandfathered in American Idol) Isn’t Kelsey Grammer one of the producers of Medium? Maybe he should stop picking up the young chicks & work on his shows!
It is one of the best shows on tv! CBS is crazy! Numbers was a great show too!
I really like this show. I like the characters and the family. Its different and unique.
Its crazy how they keep moving it around. I think that is one of the problems. Look at it’s old time slots and see if the viewers have increased thinking they would find the show. It’s one of those thinks network exec’s do to increase viewing audience. I think it was on sundays and then mondays and friday….8:00 is a bad time.
I am very sad that Medium is being cancelled. It is the best show on CBS. I don’t know what i will do on friday nights without Patricia Arquette and her wacky but fun dreams. I pray that CBS reconsiders or some other broadcast picks-up “Medium”.
Another slick move from the local stations no wonder people hate local and go to cable to watch favorites and get news. Medium I shall miss but not CBS, ABC< NBC all suck . I hope they run Medium from beginning to end on cable channels. This is nothing compared to another inquirie on this
you want some feed back should check out other blogs on subject.
How about this great ending: we are all dreaming and Allison wakes us up to tell us it was just a dream the show is not cancelled. If it won a hard time slot like Friday night why nit keep it or move it to a better time, let it follow **** my Dad Says!
I hate to see it go, but the funny thing is the real Allison Dubois predicted before the show ever aired it would last 7 seasions. I just think it is funny that she turned out to be right.
I will hate to see it end; it has been one of my favorite shows since the beg.
