At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

Mercy is a great show, I don’t know why you are taking it off the air. You are leaving show’s that really aren’t that good to watch. I noticed you are leaving like 30 minute citcoms which to me aren’t that great. When you get used to watching a show it is always pulled, once you get into it and you can’t wait until next week to see what happens. You’ll seem to do it alot.
I can’t believe you are taking mercy and trauma off. They were the best shows on tv. I no longer even have a reason to watch Nbc. Out of all the shows on tv those two were the best and my whole family loved them and now we will have nothing to watch that is worth anything. NBC is crap!!!
NBC YOU SUCK. i agree, everything else on your network is total crap now except for SVU, which im sure you will pull next season too. everything on your channel is game shows, reality shows, or basically SNL spinoffs. mercy was a good show that i watched faithfully from episode 1, which is a real accomplishment for a picky viewer like me. i wont be watching anything on your network now. with mercy gone as a lead in to SVU, i will probably forget its on and not even watch it either.
I have no reason to watch anything on NBC anymore. Mercy was the only show we watched on that channel. I’m tired of all the mind numbing crap you show now. Mercy was a great show. You blew it
Mercy was fantastic. What abortion are you going to fill the time slot with now?
this is ridiculous!!! What is wrong with NBC!! Lets just leave the crap shows going while the good ones get the cut… Nice to know you NBC i will not longer tune to your station poor decisions are ruining you!!
HOW CAN YOU TAKE OF MERCY ….THAT WAS THE BEST SHOW…..I TAPED IT BECAUSE I WORK AT NIGHT…….SO I LOOKED FORWARD TO WATCHING IT ON THE WEEKENDS…PUT IT BACK ON
We loved Mercy! We were faithful Greys Anatomy watchers, but lost interest in Greys because Mercy was so much better. What a horrible thing to do to viewers too, that invested time in watching the whole season and leave it at a cliff hanger for us to use our imagination of what happens. Bad decision, Mercy was amazing!
Why do you cancel the good shows and leave nothing but game shows and garbage to watch. Mercy was a great show. Guess I’ll go back to books and radio.
I hate NBC I loved Mercy. I want a season two.
im really really sad! i LOVE THAT SHOW SO MUCH!!
it was the only thing i was watching on tv, i didnt pay attention to any other shows..
What is left for the 60’s crowd? We don’t understand the rest of the junk you have on NBC, Law @ Order were the only shows you had on (also MERCY), that we could understand, just is not fair, but know no one ever said anything is fair in this world at present time!!!
WTF!!!!!!!!! This show was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NBC, you are digging yourself a hole….. There aren’t many shows out there that husbands and wives watch together.
We were upset with the loss of ER and then you bring us Mercy and Trama and now you take them away.
I see no reason to watch your network anymore.
I’m so disappointed in this news, NBC used to be the main network I watched, but no more now I have 2 shows left that I watch on it. I don’t care about parks and recreation I don’t care when it comes back or any new show they want to bring on. I want to see Mercy back the season finale left us hanging for a new season, and now there won’t be one..that’s CRAP nbc!!!
