The story of Bow’s younger years has come to an early finish. ABC has cancelled the Mixed-ish TV series so season three won’t be coming for the 2021-22 television season.
A family comedy, the Mixed-ish TV show stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tika Sumpter, Christina Anthony, Arica Himmel, Ethan William Childress, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Gary Cole, and Tracee Ellis Ross (narrator). In this prequel spin-off series, Rainbow “Bow” Johnson (Ross) from Black-ish recounts her experiences of growing up in a mixed-race family in the 1980s. Bow’s parents, Paul (Gosselaar) and Alicia (Sumpter), decided to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs so that they could better provide for their family. As her parents struggle with the challenges of their new lives in a more typical community, young Bow (Himmel) and her siblings, Santamonica (Harris) and Johan (Childress), navigate a mainstream school in which they’re perceived as neither black nor white. This family’s experiences illuminate the challenges of finding one’s own identity when the rest of the world can’t decide where you belong.
The second season of Mixed-ish averages a 0.40 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.96 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 38% in the demo and down by 35% in viewership. It’s one of the lowest-rated scripted series on the network
Earlier today, the network renewed Black-ish for an eighth and final season so it looks like that will be the end of the franchise on the network. Freeform will air season four of spin-off Grown-ish this summer.

I am sooooooo sad to see this show leave. There isn’t going to be anything on network tv to watch anymore!! I loved this wholesome tv show which was great for the whole family to watch and it taught my “mixed” grandchildren a lot!! Sad to see all the great shows go 🙁
I loved Mixed-ish… always a funny, loving, kind hearted, important, and fresh look at family dynamics. I think all of the characters are wonderfully highlighted, and I absolutely love young Rainbow I’ll miss this show very much

I have a mixed family, and the show revealed, what kids have to deal with, trying to find their way in two different worlds. I think it had great potential, if it had been given a chance. It’s all about the money, with you guys though. For Life, & Mixed-ish are gone.
Blackish will end after next season. No reason to tune into ABC afterwards.

Really enjoyed this light sit-com instead of all the long drawn out dramas that are so common today. Same thing happened with Carol’s Second Act.
It’s a great show and a shame it’s being canceled. Hopefully, someone will pick it up. Good for another 3 seasons for sure.
This hurts! It was a great family-friendly show. I generally don’t like sassy kids, but, “Santi” was awesome. I hope another network will pick it up for at least 2 seasons. I’d be content with 4 full seasons!

I really enjoy Mixed-ish. If the show isn’t generating ratings on ABC, why not just move it to Freeform with Grown-ish?
I watched this show because I thought their grandfather and aunt was very good and funny.
Great show which did well after two seasons, mixedish on abc finally got to say goodbye,farewell and amen but now I feel a little bit better if the show will move to syndication this fall so my family will like to see it again with new episodes on the air. We’ll see how it works and goes smoothly this fall, until then take care of yourself and stay safe. Be good to each other, thank you and god bless!
