We know one CBS series that won’t return for the 2023-24 television season. It’s been revealed that NCIS: Los Angeles has been cancelled and will end on May 14th with the conclusion of its 14th season. The spin-off series will wrap with 322 episodes, making it one of the longest-running primetime CBS series in history.
An action drama series, the NCIS: Los Angeles TV show stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Linda Hunt, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, and Gerald McRaney. Returning guests include Duncan Campbell, Alicia Coppola, Natalia del Riego, Richard Gant, Bar Paly, Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier, Pamela Reed, and Tye White. The action drama centers on the LA-based NCIS division charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals who pose a threat to United States security. Special Agent “G” Callen (O’Donnell) is a chameleon who infiltrates the criminal underworld and his partner, Special Agent Sam Hanna (J), is a former Navy SEAL. The team includes Operational Manager Henrietta “Hetty” Lange (Hunt); Special Agent Kensi Blye (Ruah), the exceptionally bright daughter of a slain Marine; Marty Deeks (Olsen), a seasoned LAPD undercover detective; Middle East specialist and cryptologist Fatima Namazi (Rahimi); and former FBI Agent Devin Rountree (Castille). Working with the team while keeping them on their toes is Retired Admiral Hollis Kilbride (McRaney). Armed with the latest in high-tech gear, this tight-knit unit is regularly sent into life-threatening situations and relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests.
The 14th season of NCIS: Los Angeles averages a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.46 million viewers. Compared to season 13, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 16% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM).
According to Deadline, the cast and crew of NCIS: Los Angeles have been informed about the series coming to an end. Though the series is likely expensive to produce, having been on the air for so long, the cancellation was still a surprise given the strong ratings for the three-way crossover with NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i.
The CSI and Criminal Minds franchises have both been revived in recent years, so there’s always a chance that NCIS: Los Angeles will return in some form someday. In the meantime, the producers will have enough time to give the series a proper farewell.
“For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a stalwart of our lineup with characters who were a joy to watch,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “From day one, the cast, producers and crew were amazing network/studio partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen. We are so grateful for the collaboration and remarkable run of these treasured members of our CBS family, and plan to give them the big sendoff they and their fans deserve.”
LL Cool J echoed that sentiment in a Twitter post and Castille also added his thoughts:
This NCIS Crossover was a huge success! After 14 seasons, it’s the perfect time to end @NCISLA on top! I look forward to continuing my partnership with @CBSTVStudios. They invested in our series B round and became a strategic partner with @RockTheBells—more exciting things ahead! pic.twitter.com/AE0JcDa2El

What do you think? Are you disappointed that NCIS: Los Angeles has been cancelled? Would you prefer to see a final 15th season or, is 14 seasons long enough?
CBS is getting real good at destroying their tv shows I am not surprised
Hate to see it ending, they should transfer the NCIS:LA to Hawaii and have the two shows crisscross each other in the new season!
I so agree with Naomi. NCIS:Hawaii doesn’t even come close to NCIS:LA. I am really going to miss this show. I hope ION starts doing the reruns again.
I just don’t get why these shows have to be CX. NCIS New Orleans had just put together the best group they ever had and bingo, it’s gone. Now this. Guess CBS enjoys being last. Don’t miss Hetty, can’t blame her. She has threatened to leave the show almost from the beginning so that’s not the reason. Perhaps a move to another channel, not STREAMING!!! I do wish the cast the best and Thank them for the action they brought to us each weel.
I think it is the worse idea ever. You already took off NCIS NEW ORLEANS and now you are taking off the NCIS LOS ANGELES. What is next the regular NCIS or NCIS HAWAII.
Taking these shows off the air and putting some kind animated show in it’s place is so stupid.
Why, not just take everything off the network and then I don’t have to watch your network anymore.
to be truethful since they moved to Sunday it was like CBS tried to get rid of NCISLA. Football cuts into it, changes in times confused viewers, putting movies on in stead. So have maney times will CBS cut into what remains of this wonderful show.
CBS:How can you cancel NCISLA? Such a great show with characters/actors we love to invite into our homes. Sure, we miss Hetty, but Gerald McRaney as Kilbride has been great being in charge. Could y’all not move it to Paramount+ to give us a few more years of this show we love? NCISLA is so much better than NCIS:Hawaii!’
NCIS LA is better than the mother ship NCIS don’t worry @CBS will cancel NCIS Hawaii within the next 2 years
Noooo! We love NCISLA! It’s one of our favorite shows! We DVR it every week and watch it the next day! If you want to end a show cancel NCIS Hawaii. That one just is NOT good at all! Please reconsider and keep NCIS Los Angeles!
add ANOTHER reality show?????
CBS is making a mistake as usual. NCISLA is a fav for us. Heartbroken!
Please do NOT cancel this show. It is too good to go off the air!!! So tired of the good shows going while stupid shows get signed on.
Here we go again, losing an old friend and characters we love. Linda Hunt’s seldom seen “Hetty” perhaps played a part but the rest of the cast carried it on and kept it interesting. I hope for a miracle at CBS, miracle do happen. That ensemble will truly be missed.
I hate to see a terrific show canceled. Bring it back.
Was shocked, disappointed, and upset to hear NCIS: Los Angeles is being canceled. I think when CBS moved it to another night, not keeping it the same night as the other 2 NCIS shows, was when people stopped watching it as much. What a bad decision it was to move it to a different night and later time. Once again, one of the great shows bites the dust. I have to agree with one of the others commenting here, about getting rid of great shows, then replacing them with crap shows. Happening more and more all the time.
Well I’m really bummed I was really bummed when they canceled New Orleans why are they canceling la I love the NCIS shows I don’t want any more to go
I kinda understand why they are deciding to end it, but seeing how this season has gone so far, i really think they need 1 more season to tie up all the loose ends. I have a bad feeling the remaining episodes will be made hastily to finish everything up and it won’t get the smooth & proper conclusion it should have.
