We know one CBS series that won’t return for the 2023-24 television season. It’s been revealed that NCIS: Los Angeles has been cancelled and will end on May 14th with the conclusion of its 14th season. The spin-off series will wrap with 322 episodes, making it one of the longest-running primetime CBS series in history.
An action drama series, the NCIS: Los Angeles TV show stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Linda Hunt, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, and Gerald McRaney. Returning guests include Duncan Campbell, Alicia Coppola, Natalia del Riego, Richard Gant, Bar Paly, Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier, Pamela Reed, and Tye White. The action drama centers on the LA-based NCIS division charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals who pose a threat to United States security. Special Agent “G” Callen (O’Donnell) is a chameleon who infiltrates the criminal underworld and his partner, Special Agent Sam Hanna (J), is a former Navy SEAL. The team includes Operational Manager Henrietta “Hetty” Lange (Hunt); Special Agent Kensi Blye (Ruah), the exceptionally bright daughter of a slain Marine; Marty Deeks (Olsen), a seasoned LAPD undercover detective; Middle East specialist and cryptologist Fatima Namazi (Rahimi); and former FBI Agent Devin Rountree (Castille). Working with the team while keeping them on their toes is Retired Admiral Hollis Kilbride (McRaney). Armed with the latest in high-tech gear, this tight-knit unit is regularly sent into life-threatening situations and relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests.
The 14th season of NCIS: Los Angeles averages a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.46 million viewers. Compared to season 13, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 16% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM).
According to Deadline, the cast and crew of NCIS: Los Angeles have been informed about the series coming to an end. Though the series is likely expensive to produce, having been on the air for so long, the cancellation was still a surprise given the strong ratings for the three-way crossover with NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i.
The CSI and Criminal Minds franchises have both been revived in recent years, so there’s always a chance that NCIS: Los Angeles will return in some form someday. In the meantime, the producers will have enough time to give the series a proper farewell.
“For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a stalwart of our lineup with characters who were a joy to watch,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “From day one, the cast, producers and crew were amazing network/studio partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen. We are so grateful for the collaboration and remarkable run of these treasured members of our CBS family, and plan to give them the big sendoff they and their fans deserve.”
LL Cool J echoed that sentiment in a Twitter post and Castille also added his thoughts:
This NCIS Crossover was a huge success! After 14 seasons, it’s the perfect time to end @NCISLA on top! I look forward to continuing my partnership with @CBSTVStudios. They invested in our series B round and became a strategic partner with @RockTheBells—more exciting things ahead! pic.twitter.com/AE0JcDa2El

What do you think? Are you disappointed that NCIS: Los Angeles has been cancelled? Would you prefer to see a final 15th season or, is 14 seasons long enough?
I stopped watching it three seastons ago, when I realised everyone in the cast a millionaires.
Please don’t cancel this wonderful show. The NCIS programs are the last remnants of Columbo type dramas we have left. I thoroughly enjoy watching the story unfold and the great character interactions.
Bring it back! One of the best.
NCIS LA should be RENEWED. I tried to watch the Hawaii one , its just not that interesting. I would like to have a season 15, and if your writers are good enough , I think we can make history with this series !!!!
Hetty isn’t on here anymore. Surprised her name is still on the credits. It’s time to hang it up when half the characters aren’t on the show. It’s not like it once was but it sure beats the last new spin off.
Ok.. TOTALLY TICKED OFF ABOUT THIS…DON’T GET IT! Unless the actors are just sick of these roles and just want to move one. Completely bummed!
I just tried it my first time the other month & great cast, storylines & location I thought also too. I liked this one, New Orleans & Hawaii the most than the original. But I read the reason they cancelled it & I respect it too. They cancelled it because it was getting more expensive to produce down in LA & 14 years was a great run also too by you loyal NCIS viewers. And I have no doubt also, I’m sure a new spinoff will be created to replace it next season just like Hawaii created the other year… Read more »
I am sorry that @CBS feels NCISLA should be cancelled. This a wonderful show and it’s the only show I watch. I’ve always been a fan of Chris O’Donnell and will continue to be. He is a marvalous actor. Guess I’ll be wearing out all my video’s of his movies and NCISLA. I thought NCIS would be removed their story line without Gibbs was not good, my thought. I also wish they would leave Erik write scripts they writers went so far off track with adoptions and pregnancy issues, let Kensey be the tough agent she was always not her… Read more »
Sad to see NCIS: LA come to a close. I won’t be watching much TV after the 22/23 season because there is not much left to watch. Most of the shows I watch/watched are or have been cancelled and replaced by 1/2 not so funny comedies that I don’t laugh at because they are so juvenile or overly political to the point that I turn the TV off!
Very disappointed NCISLA has been canceled! Hope CBS will reconsider!
Yes I’m disappointed, couldn’t get on with watching the Hawaii show so given that a wide birth and now down to one, let’s hope they don’t cancel that as I’ll have nothing to watch
Very Sad, for it would not have been this way. I think if you had put them on the same night like the shows “FBI’s” it would have mattered with the people who enjoy watching the “NCIS’s”. The night you had the three hour cross over it sure made a difference in the ratings. Thanks
So sorry to see ncis la leaving it’s been part of my me time for 14 seasons and I’m totally gonna cry on the last episode. Will miss seeing everyone on the show and wish them all the best willmy fingers you’ll be back like criminal minds.
Very SAD to see this show end, loved the characters for all the 14 Seasons. Will totally miss the cast; they are all phenomenal. Hope to see them again soon, in other roles. Or a remake or MOVIE in the future CBS.
Thanks for the Memories!
I’m really going to miss NCISLA, to me it is the best of the three, followed by NCIS hawaii, just get rid of NCIS. It’s just boring.
