We know one CBS series that won’t return for the 2023-24 television season. It’s been revealed that NCIS: Los Angeles has been cancelled and will end on May 14th with the conclusion of its 14th season. The spin-off series will wrap with 322 episodes, making it one of the longest-running primetime CBS series in history.
An action drama series, the NCIS: Los Angeles TV show stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Linda Hunt, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, and Gerald McRaney. Returning guests include Duncan Campbell, Alicia Coppola, Natalia del Riego, Richard Gant, Bar Paly, Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier, Pamela Reed, and Tye White. The action drama centers on the LA-based NCIS division charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals who pose a threat to United States security. Special Agent “G” Callen (O’Donnell) is a chameleon who infiltrates the criminal underworld and his partner, Special Agent Sam Hanna (J), is a former Navy SEAL. The team includes Operational Manager Henrietta “Hetty” Lange (Hunt); Special Agent Kensi Blye (Ruah), the exceptionally bright daughter of a slain Marine; Marty Deeks (Olsen), a seasoned LAPD undercover detective; Middle East specialist and cryptologist Fatima Namazi (Rahimi); and former FBI Agent Devin Rountree (Castille). Working with the team while keeping them on their toes is Retired Admiral Hollis Kilbride (McRaney). Armed with the latest in high-tech gear, this tight-knit unit is regularly sent into life-threatening situations and relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests.
The 14th season of NCIS: Los Angeles averages a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.46 million viewers. Compared to season 13, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 16% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM).
According to Deadline, the cast and crew of NCIS: Los Angeles have been informed about the series coming to an end. Though the series is likely expensive to produce, having been on the air for so long, the cancellation was still a surprise given the strong ratings for the three-way crossover with NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i.
The CSI and Criminal Minds franchises have both been revived in recent years, so there’s always a chance that NCIS: Los Angeles will return in some form someday. In the meantime, the producers will have enough time to give the series a proper farewell.
“For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a stalwart of our lineup with characters who were a joy to watch,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “From day one, the cast, producers and crew were amazing network/studio partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen. We are so grateful for the collaboration and remarkable run of these treasured members of our CBS family, and plan to give them the big sendoff they and their fans deserve.”
LL Cool J echoed that sentiment in a Twitter post and Castille also added his thoughts:
This NCIS Crossover was a huge success! After 14 seasons, it’s the perfect time to end @NCISLA on top! I look forward to continuing my partnership with @CBSTVStudios. They invested in our series B round and became a strategic partner with @RockTheBells—more exciting things ahead! pic.twitter.com/AE0JcDa2El

So sad, NCIS Los Angeles is one of the best programs on TV. Will miss all the characters very much. My husband and I are both in our 80’s and look forward to watching the programs even if we’ve seen them before. Please reconsider cancelling this program. He’d rather watch NCSI than football so what does that tell you. NCIS Los Angeles is a great program. We’ve been watching NCIS Los Angeles since it came on TV, we are watching all of Season 14 right now through ON DEMAND. Please reconsider. Thank you for your time and please reconsider.
So sad to be losing this awesome show along with SWAT! I watch only a few network shows so my TV time is dwindling.

I am very very disappointed at the cancelation OF NCIS LA. I was a faithful viewer and looked forward to and loved the show. Maybe enough people will write in and the show will be brought back.
Very disappointed CSI Los Angeles is cancelled after Episode 14. I love ALL the CSIs. Fun and entertaining to watch. ALL the actors are outstanding.
Please reconsider to consider and consider to do more episodes. WHY is it being cancelled with all the great reviews.
Show went off the rails during Covid and the departure of Hetti Lange, who was a focal point of show, then the departure of the two brain child’s in op’s, and the story lines becoming more about relationships and political correctness, I am not surprised, with the departure of Gibbs in original series that series will probably get cut too, sooner than later.
Cannot believe this is going off, one of the few shows on CBS I enjoy. I can think of several shows that should be cancelled. Why couldn’t CBS do all NCIS shows in one day like they do the FBI franchise. Very disappointed in CBS.
shows started to decline when #1 they moved to new day, # 2 favorite characters were leaving and replacements did not have same appeal and changed narrative of all the shows, NCIS Hawaii seems to be the only one left with original idea of series.
