NBC has had great success with This Is Us, a family drama that explores characters’ lives by going back and forth in time. That show is ending this season and the peacock network has now introduced Ordinary Joe, a drama that follows the main character’s life via three possible timelines. Will it also be a hit? Will Ordinary Joe be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A drama series, the Ordinary Joe TV show stars James Wolk, Natalie Martinez, Elizabeth Lail, Charlie Barnett, David Warshofsky, and Teddy Sears with Adam Rodriguez, Jack Coleman, Christine Adams, Joe Carroll, Rushi Kota, Jason Burkey, and Gabrielle Byndloss in recurring roles. The show follows young Joe Kimbreau (Wolk) as he makes a pivotal and life-changing decision at his Syracuse University graduation. The three parallel stories that diverge from that night find Joe and the people around him with different careers, relationships, and family lives. The three tales each follow Joe some 10 years after his graduation: following in his father’s footsteps, as a police officer; following his passion, as a music star; and after he marries his love, as a nurse.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the final national ratings, including all live+same day viewing and DVR playback (through 3:00 AM). Early fast affiliate ratings (estimates) are indicated with an “*”. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the Ordinary Joe TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*3/4/2022 update: NBC has cancelled the Ordinary Joe TV show after one season.
This show is not getting picked up. I just know it. Not sure if it’s worth tuning in for the rest… what’s the point.
I’m sad to see the ratings continuing to drop. I fear the end might be near for this Joe.
Found this show on Hulu and I love it! A show about possibilities while still being in the same cosmic universe.
Please have a season 2.
Those of us bored with cookie cutter programing are really enjoying this story, concept, and format.
This show is very intriguing. It requires a little more attention then the normal TV show. Sort of three stories in one intertwined. KEEP IT ON!
BEST SHOW ON TV!!!
I’m not surprised ordinary Joe isn’t doing well in the readings. It’s an intriguing promise but the execution has been joyless. I couldn’t watch past the second episode.
Love this show…. soooo good. I hope it gets renewed
I like Ordinary Joe. I’ve been recording it on my DVR and watching it on other days which probably be hasn’t helped as far as ratings. Sorry Ordinary Joe. It was just convenient to watch it at other times or days since it was on a little bit later. If I was unwittingly part of your demise, please forgive me. This is a bit of a learning curve. So, I’ll know if I like a show and want it to continue to watch it then.
The most clever show I’ve ever seen. The idea was genius. I absolutely love it. But as I have found, if it doesn’t have enough trash or violence, it doesn’t last, but you know what I think doesn’t matter. It’s a comfortable show to watch. It’s something even a child could watch. The star of the show is SO TALENTED. HE deserves all things good.
Worry not. Ratings take DVRing into account, just as long as you watch the show within a reasonable amount of time.
Well it sure is different. I applaud NBC for the direction they’ve taken with new and different shows. I’d renew it.
Please reconsider it boost your ratings and enjoy it and love it new show drama after the Voice every week so good.
I’m at Episode #4 on the DVR.
I don’t love the show, but I don’t hate it, either.
I don’t understand the people who say they can’t keep up with all of character/story switches in the episodes; it’s kind of a sad commentary on the attention span of most people who complain that they get confused.
I don’t understand why certain people feel it necessary to comment on other commenters instead of discussing/debating the current topic.
Not really. Shows can be intelligent and well written, without being convoluted. A smart show knows how to do it right. If a show is too convoluted, people will tune out. That’s not necessarily a commentary on attention span. It’s a commentary on writing ability. You can right a good, intelligent, well thought out, intriguing story without making it unnecessarily confusing.
I’m still watching/enjoying this, but sometimes it’s confusing which reality I’m watching. And sometimes there are events common to more than one reality, which makes the confusion worse.
I feel like I should be taking notes.
I’m very nervouse Ordinary Joe will be cancelled. It’s the lowest rated NBC show this season but it’s real good.
Love the show.! Intriguing and different. Good character and plot development.
Interesting premise, likeable characters — I think I’ll give this show a chance.
The obvious series conclusion is, of course, that all three Joes wind up in the same circumstances.
Destiny.
