What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, The Orville stars Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J Lee, and Mark Jackson. The sci-fi action-adventure series centers on Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane), of The U.S.S. Orville, and First Officer Kelly Grayson (Palicki) — his ex-wife. Whether facing off with the Krill, a dangerous alien race, or attempting rescues on behalf of the Planetary Union, the human and alien crew still must deal with their mundane issues and each other.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Orville averaged a 0.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.16 million viewers. Compared to season one, that is down by 40% and 27%, respectively. Find out how The Orville stacks up against the other FOX TV shows.
The Orville has been renewed for a third season. However, the series is moving to Hulu. Season three will debut on June 2, 2022. Stay tuned for further updates.

Will The Orville be cancelled or renewed for season three? Right now, it is too soon to judge by the ratings, but I am sure FOX will pick up another installment, because it has been approved to receive California tax incentives for a third season. Remember, entertainment aside, television is a numbers game, and the most important numbers involve money. Still, I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with any breaking developments. The Orville is just brilliant. To cancel would be madness
I’d be devastated if this show ended now as it’s just begun! It’s quite possibly the best show on television right now!!! I’ve been watching since the beginning. And I recommend it highly. I even turned my mom on to it, and she my brother! This year I didnt have dish so being a neilson family wasnt an option or I would have just to be sure this show got my view! I am watching via hulu!!!
Love The Orville! I just learned of its existence last month while visiting friends. Been binging on it since.
I’m old enough to have seen the original Star Trek (from the 2nd episode aired) and was devastated when it was cancelled after running for five years. I dislike comedy but am addicted to The Orville anyway. It’s great. Don’t cancel it on this old (74) lady, please.
btw, I’m a writer (horror and humor), both books and screenplays, so not only see this series as a “fan” would, but also with a behind-the-scenes mind.

Not online I don’t know about recorded however.
if it is to be cancelled , then episode 9 had to be the last one with a different story scenario of Kaylon’s victory!! that would be sad (finish of the series) but really differentiated and wonderful .. So now with the alliance of krill and the union , season 3 is inevitable and we are glad to that .. love to all orville’s minds , appreciate your amazing work !!!
We love this show, just the right amount of comedy and drama! Please do not cancel this show. There are a lot of people from the sixties and seventies that love it!

The show is great!! It developed its established universe and the mix of humor and serious moments is very well balanced. I hope they don’t cancel it like the other sci-fi show I liked, The people of Earth.
The Orville has definitely improved with season 2, especially the second half. Finally some of the characters are being given more screen time, and being allowed to develop. The battle in the two-part show was great. No science fiction series is great unless there is an explosive battle scene. You get the feeling that you have not seen the last of the Kaylon, and the new alliance between the Krill looks promising. Of course we will have to have a bigger, nastier, villain in series 3. The Orville has surpassed any and all expectations of mine for a Sci Fi show… The major difference with this show and Star Trek, is the crew of the Orville were immediately likable, the humor seems organic and the writing is brilliant. If FOX fails to renew, I am sure Mr McFarland will find another network to pick it up. But, I am guessing the 3rd season will be bigger, and perhaps, there is much more in store for this universe.
