The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

Urg, just found out they cancelled the show. Wtf?? Gonna miss Gupta. Sniff, sniff.
“Chuck” is the only thing left, and it just barely survives every year. Easy to see why this is a #4 network year after year! Crap, keep it for years. Good, throw that stuff out for more crap! Sadly, it’s not all NBC’s fault cause a generation has been created that can’t follow a TV show if there is a plot to keep up with or you have to think, and that is why only mindless, no thought required, reality TV is the only thing they can air. Please bring back Outsourced! My wife and I looked forward to that… Read more »
Please bring back Outsourced !!! That was a really good show, so funny. Big mistake to cancel it. Bring it back !!
So disappointed that Outsourced was cancelled. It was light and funny and always made us laugh. I guess with things like 16 and pregnant and the Housewives of every city in the US, no one has time for a good comedy anymore. As shows like this go, we spend more and more time on alternative channels looking for comedy. Even reruns of some older shows, or 2 1/2 Men, are funnier than some of the newer shows. Of course, in today’s world, MASH would have been cancelled as its initial ratings were also low – and that is when we… Read more »
I want outsourced it’s giving me a great laugh. This is very frustrating.
This was not only a delight to watch in the evening after a long day of work, but I was so excited at the prospect of being able to use short clips to help my English students who are faced with working with Indians everyday, understand “the Indian” accent…booo…bring back OUTSOURCED!
if there’s gonna be a petition for Outsourced to get 2nd Season, then I’m gonna be first on the list. It’s disappointing to learn that the show has been cancelled when it’s more entertaining than other TV series out there!
I loved Outsourced and I’m going to miss it. There were so many good actors on this show.
It seems like all people want to watch today are trashy reality TV shows about people with no talent and no purpose, who are famous for nothing except their Mommy and Daddy’s money.
Sad.
i really liked out sourced it was like the office only better i wish there was season 2 i was looking forward to it. i hope they change their minds. BRING BACK OUTSOURCED!!!!
The keep the painfully unfunny 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, but drop Outsourced?
Now I have absolutely no reason to watch NBC. CBS, here I come!
We are big fans of US tv sitcoms and shows here in Asia. Very hard to understand why good shows like. Outsourced or The Good Guys. are cancelled, just because they come in no. 4 or 5 in some questionable tv survey results. Crap shows like fringe and all the various teenie vampire stuff shows are totally overrated and far less watched than the tv station bosses want us make believe. Even my teenage kids prefer the good guys, office, outsourced and switch channels when ever fringe, the event, true blood etc screens… Seriously… Who wants to watch these twilight… Read more »
Outsourced was a refreshing exposure to what it would be like living in another culture. The characters were fresh, lively, colorful, and even romantic. Outsourced was my favorite show of the 2010-11 season for laughs and insight into Indian and Western cultures exposed. Loss of Outsourced insulates Americans even more. Shame on you, NBC, for cancelling a great show.
Bring back Outsourced!
It will take off if given a chance.
I am quite disappointed in NBC for canceling Outsourced. At least it gave some of us a “lighter side” to the whole offshoring debate. I will miss Ghupta most of all. Darn it!! NBC, BRING IT BACK!!
If people petition enough they might bring it back. If they can bring back party of 5 and family guy and king of the hill why not bring back out sourced. party of 5 sucked king of the hill was killed the 12 season but brought back for at least 1 more for closure and we all know about family guy. Out sourced was awesome. NBC is turning into fox
was a funny program, but the idiots at nbc again cancell a good program, but then again they censored the pledge of allegence also, what a bunch of idiots
