The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

this is the only show I looked forward to seeing besides 2 1/2 men. Well.on the positive side, I will have more time…but I will miss it so..
I personally will miss this show. It was hilarious in my opinion and to be honest after hearing it was cancelled I had a horrible feeling that Community was probably cancelled as well. Thankfully I was wrong. Anyway I hope the show get’s picked up because it was part of my comedy done right Thursday night list.
I LOVED that show! I am SOOOOO disappointed that it has ended already. Crappy shows that are so stupid, they are not even funny, are left running, but, nooooo, they have to cancel one that is genuinely funny. Well, I guess there must be ‘stupid people’ making those decisions.
Well this stinks. I liked that show a lot. With the departure of Michael from The Office, I really thought Outsourced would get more viewership.
Poop.
Wait, this show was canceled after one season but “Two and a Half Men” is in the middle of season 8?? Where is the justice in prime time tv??
I mean Outsourced wasn’t as good as survivor but it was still a good show 🙂
I really enjoyed this show and am sorry it will be cancelled after only one season.
I love this show and I’ve never cared as much that some how it will be brought back. I love every character and this could be a huge hit if only it had a proper chance.
So unfunny crap like 30 Rock and Parks and Rec are coming back and the 2nd funniest show on the network is going away? Well, I guess it just means I have more free time.
I loved outsourced and would be proud to sponsor a twitter campaign to bring it back just give me the word
I was immediately hooked after the pilot. I’m very sad to see this show go so quickly. I did, however, never watch it when it initially aired and always watched the episodes at later dates. It was not something I had to hurry to catch up on. I think it deserved a better time slot and a second chance.
The show never caught on because it was “chickified”. Seriously, if I wanted to watch a show about relationships at work, I’d watch Grey’s Anatomy. It had the potential to be a funny show if they focused on the culture-clashes between Eastern and Western cultures, language differences, and general work-related comedy. But no, they decided that Todd had to attempt to couple up with Asha, then when that didn’t work, couple up with Tonya. Here’s a thought Hollywood: we have enough shows that focus on sex, COME UP WITH A NEW IDEA!!!
It is really too bad that all series don’t get at least two seasons. I really enjoyed this show.
Glad they cancelled. None of my fellow IT friends watched this show. It’s like pouring salt in the wounds of those of us who have suffered in some way, whether in reduced salary or lost jobs or lack of opportunities or longer work hours to make up for so called ‘highly skilled’ workers. I think offshoring within limits and with same business culture vendors is a good plan, but displacing avg of 90% of VERY highly skilled and highly experienced Americans with people just out of college or with 1-3yrs total work experience has been an expensive proposition for all… Read more »
I cannot believe this show is cancelled after just one season. I remember watching the pilot and have been hooked ever since. I hope another network picks it up!
I just started watching on HULU and have been hooked. Someone needs to pick this show up!!
