TV show description:
Inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Gillen), the Project Blue Book TV series is a scripted drama series, based on the real-life, top-secret investigation into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and related activity, conducted in the 1950s and ’60s by the United States Air Force.
The story centers on Hynek, a top-notch college professor, married to the loyal Mimi (Mennell). The Air Force recruits Allen to lead its secret operation, code name Project Blue Book. On behalf of the government, he then researches thousands of cases — and hundreds of them still remain unsolved. Each episode uses actual case files and UFO theories, with historical events serving as the backdrop.
Hynek works under General James Harding (McDonough), a confident man with keen insight who oversees the Project Blue Book division. In turn, General Hugh Valentine (Harney), keeps a close eye on Harding and the new project.
Cases explored during the series include the West Virginia Flatwoods Monster Incident; the Fargo, North Dakota Gorman Dogfight; Texas’ Lubbock Lights; and the Chiles-Whitted UFO Incident of Montgomery, Alabama. While delving into these occurrences, it also examines issues including trust, instinct, real news vs. fake, and government coverups, as well as the unknown.
Series Finale:
Episode #20 — Operation Mainbrace
When UFOs and USOs (unidentified submersible objects) begin plaguing a massive naval exercise on the border of Russian waters, Hynek and Quinn realize it’s up to them to stop a rogue Admiral from starting World War III.
First aired: March 24, 2020.
What do you think? Do you like the Project Blue Book TV series? Should this TV show have been cancelled or renewed for a third season on History?
I love it. Please do not cancel this intriguing program!
Keep it going–fascinating and well done–but stick with the facts that we DO have. I think this (Blue Book) is important–but you’ll kill it for those of us who lived through the times that these things were happening. Keep it accurate, or you will lose all of us. The truth is always more interesting than anything squads of writers can conjure. I’ve never seen a UFO or had any such experience, and I wish I could, because I do NOT believe we are alone.
If the 3/6/19 episode was meant to portray the Barney (and Betty?) Hill event, why did you not cast a white woman as his wife, as is historically true? Is this series meant to convey as much historical truth as possible, or are you going for pure entertainment, like those tightly scripted “reality” shows? If you are playing with the things we DO know, why should we watch your ideas about what we DON’T know? If the 3/6/2019 episode was meant to portray the Barney and b
Sue, it is understandable that you feel this way, but think of it; the stories are getting out there (no matter their vehicle) for a new generation of people. The producers probably thought that the focus would be more on the interracial couple instead of the story. To have a strong black woman portray the part was a smart move…because it will get people of multiple cultures to look these stories up. That’s what we’re going for here, right? The more people know, the better. Let the show do its thing and appreciate the ultimate outcome…that people will talk about… Read more »
Completely disagree with this comment. One should not falsify known facts…EVER. This is a main problem of our current society. This notion of the “ends justify the means”…regardless of whatever damage a lie might case. This is a show purportedly based on science; should you lie about your data results to perpetuate your own agenda?
You can also cause the manipulation of known facts, science or otherwise….gaslighting.
My favorite!
great show one my favorite
Please keep this program!
I love this series! I have long been interested in the UFO phenomena and find this series well done and addictive! I have a strong distrust of our government and this series only adds to it!
I LOVE this series, hopefully it will be renewed. I agree, the Captain does overact. I am sure it is his character.
Love the series and hope that it continues. The story lines are excellent. We are not alone in the universe and I consider this show more insight into reality and what has been hidden from us for decades.
A great new UFO/SciFi series that makes you wonder what the government was trying to keep away from the public, post WWII.
Love this series! I hope they continue it. Very interesting and well done, and the main characters are great.
Didn’t realize how good this program was, had 4 weeks store up. Looked at 3 weeks worth last night and was hooked. Told my daughter about it as they are into these things. And as usual the government hides the truth. Excellent program.
I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
Renew Blue Book! It is based on fact. I like it a lot.
Saw the initial show and it appears to be quite good. My only problem is that most times the background sound, which continuously plays, drowns out the words of the characters. Would be nice if someone could get control of this. The Air Force Captain overacts his role but I can get around that.
Having separate channels on your sound system and increasing the center channel volume should correct this. I’m not sure who your provider is. But I didn’t have this problem.
