It just goes to show, there’s no such thing as “a sure thing” in Hollywood. While shows like Gilmore Girls and Everwood have been nervously wondering if they were going to be renewed, the cast and crew of Reba McEntire’s Reba could just relax. After all, the show is the highest rated sitcom on the WB and besides, the show was renewed for two seasons last year. No worries, right?
Not so. When the UPN/WB merger was announced earlier this year, it’s said that CBS’ leader Les Moonves sent word that the new CW network would honor the rest of the two-year commitment. With that in mind, the Reba cast and crew wrapped their shooting according to schedule on March 14, 2006.
In a surprising move a few weeks later, CW executives reportedly told Fox (who produces the show) that they wanted to cancel the deal because the show doesn’t attract their “desired demographic.” Fox supposedly rejected the request and it’s likely that if the CW still wants out, it will come at a costly price.
The season finale of Reba (episode 112 and entitled “Reba’s Heart”) aired on May 5, 2006. It was originally shot as a cliffhanger but after word of the potential cancellation was released, the episode was re-edited.
Though Reba has not been officially cancelled, it would be surprising to see it on the CW Fall schedule. Still, it is the highest-rated sitcom on the WB and the similarly rated 7th Heaven was cancelled, aired a series finale, and has now been resurrected and renewed for Fall. So, as I said, there’s no such thing as a sure thing in Hollywood. Stay tuned!
i have been searching for 2 months trying to figure out whats going on with “the new cw.” their website is NO help so thankfully i ran across your site to find out that all my favorite shows were cancelled! i am frustrated and mad that cw did this is such a way that no one knew what was going on! not even their website explains why they cancelled shows like reba, everwood, and what i like about you. but i can tell you one thing…these shows are most DEFINITELY better then that WWsmackdown crud they air for a straight… Read more »
How come all the good clean family shows always get the ax first? Reba was a joy to watch and was very entertaining, clean for the whole family. Think about cancelling something so clean and wholesome with all the crap we are watching today.
Please bring Reba back. It is the only show that I enjoy watching regularly. My boys, 6 and 7, also enjoy it and have been heartbroken by the fact that the series has been cancelled. The show has been such an inspiration to me since becoming a single mother again, and I would love to see it revived either on the CW or on another channel.
Why do they always take off any show that is wholesome and entertaining? There are enough reality
shows and cop shows. Some of us still want a show that the whole family can enjoy together. It would be nice to have more of these kinds of shows.
Please bring back Reba and the gang. This is such an entertaining show. Something for everyone, but with real life situations. I watch reruns two times a day and just can’t get enough. Please, Please bring back the wholesome comedy and the only really good family show without bloodshed on TV.
You cancel “REBA” and replace with wrestling!!!
What were you thinking – I probably would have been fired for a decision like that one..
Bring the show back

Yes please bring back Reba. I love to watch the WB friday when it was on. Now it is CW and all there is on Friday nights it Smack down. Please bring the cast of Reba back ASAP. I have been watching Reba since the first show.
Please do not cancel Reba – it is a great show! I wait all week to see Barbara Jean and what she is going to do next. This is an awesome sitcom which I believe could make it big on any of the major networks. You would be crazy to cancel this great show!
I am 15 years old and love to watch Reba – please do not cancel this show. It is the best sitcom on TV. Barbara Jean makes me laugh time and time again. My family loves this show. Please bring it back!!!!
Please don’t cancel Reba – I love the show! There is not one bad character on this show – what a wonderful group of performers. There are too many serious drama shows on tv these days and with Reba it is a 1/2 hour of nothing but laughter. Please bring Reba back!!!!
Please don’t cancel Reba. It’s the only t.v. show that is worth watching. I always look forward to watching the show, and it is one of the very few shows out there that all ages can appreciate.PLEASE KEEP REBA ON TV
I HATE tHE CW!!! They ruined everything. They have pretty much every show from UPN, but no shows from the WB?? What’s up with that?? And Reba was the highest rated comedy. I really hope that season 6 of Reba isn’t the last!:(
