Rebel is one of the more surprising cancellations of this television season. ABC Signature President Jonnie Davis is the latest to speak out about the cancellation of the drama series after only four episodes into its season. It appears cancelling the Katey Sagal series was just as hard from the side of the studio.
Davis said the following about the decision made by ABC to cancel the series, per Deadline:
“We love Krista Vernoff, we made this incredible deal with her. There’s no better showrunner in town — and a creator by the way — and we were gut-punched about Rebel. We hoped that was going to get more time to fully find the audience, and if you’re reading the blogs right now, people love that show. We’re still licking our wounds on that one.”
Sagal and others have also spoken out publicly about the cancellation of Rebel. There is still hope the series could find a new home.

Everytime I enjoy a show on ABC it gets cancelled. Rebel has great characters, wonderful actors and interesting storylines. Guess it’s missing the horror of blood and guts. I’m sick of crap tv there’s enough gore on the news. Someone keep rebel alive!!!

Rebel is an amazing show with a stellar cast. I can’t believe how many of my fav shows have been cancelled by ABC. Like the others (Whiskey Cavalier), it isn’t about the fans and what they like…something else is going on. So disappointed AGAIN

Please reconsider canceling
This is a great show. Give it more of a chance than 4 episodes. Networks can be so stupid and it’s even said that everyone loves the show.
This show should have never been canceled I loved this show please bring it back abc made a big mistake in canceling this show hurry up and find a new home
ABC made a bigger mistake by canceling Stumptown after it was renewed for a second season just because of delays as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Cobie Smulders deserved better because of the great performances she and her castmates produced on Stumptown!
Please find another home for Rebel/ I love watching the show!

Only 4 episodes before cancelling?! Really??!! I think they need to find a new way of measuring how people watch shows. A lot of people do not watch shows live when they originally air. I almost never watch a show while it’s airing. I record everything & watch it later. It may be the next day or a week or 2 later, but I always watch what I record. Besides recording it, many people stream it after it airs. If cable & satellite companies reported all the data of what people record, it may give these big wigs some valuable… Read more »
Don’t cancel
Yes, I really hope another station picks this show up. We really enjoy this program.
The world today is so full of corruption everywhere you turn. This show gave hope that corruption can be defeated. Maybe that’s one of the reasons it was cancelled. It might make the population more uncontrollable if people get the idea that they can fight the elite and win . I love this show and its actors. Hopefully another network will pick it up and keep it going.
What’ wrong with you people? This show is just what we all need. It’s about justice ,young and old can appreciate all the plot lines and the cast is spectacular.
Rethink that terrible decision.

I can’t believe this show is being cancelled!!!! I think it is a great show. How can you cancel it, but keep other shows going like all these reality shows, that I think suck. Way too many of these programs on t.v. today. Along comes a good program, and you cancel it!!!
