Last year, of the 26 scripted CBS TV series we tracked during the regular season, the SEAL Team TV show ranked eighth in the demo and 12th in terms of total audience size. If that was just beginner’s luck, the ratings will drop off in the second season. But if this show has the soul of a warrior, it could even increase its audience this time around. Will SEAL Team be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A CBS military drama, SEAL Team stars David Boreanaz, Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., AJ Buckley, Toni Trucks, Jessica Paré, and Judd Lormand. The action-adventure series centers on an exclusive Navy SEAL unit as they train for, plan, and risk their very lives to carry out perilous missions for the sake and honor of the U.S.A. Fierce and focused Jason Hayes (Boreanaz) leads the Tier One team. Despite the hardship it causes them and their families, this SEAL team is ready, willing, and able to embark upon secret missions at the drop of a hat. Their love of country and deep resolve is unmatched.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/23 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The first season of SEAL Team on CBS averaged a 1.01 rating in the 18-49 demo and a total audience of 6.660 million viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the SEAL Team TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for third season on CBS?
*5/9/19 update: CBS has renewed SEAL Team for a third season.
Seal team should be renewed for the next season. The network is a major reason why seal team cannot get higher ratings – they have not allowed to show to have continuity from week to week this whole
2019 – 2020 year. It makes me believe that the network doesn’t want the show to do well because of the way it continues to alter its timeslots and skip weeks at a time before the show is on again. Shame on the network. They obviously need some help realizing what a great show seal team is!
We love the Seal Team program. Keep it.
The most riveting and technically accurate drama on television as we see it. Other than a real-life documentary, this is how it happens. Having family members who deploy regularly, I can tell you that just about the only thing missing is the sheer ‘ugliness’ of war/combat. The mental anguish is portrayed accurately. We will watch this show always, with our nerves on edge.
An outstanding series on every level; script, story, acting, production values. The missions, especially the three-part Mexico one,
reveal much about current real life conditions that reflect our country’s foreign policy challenges. The stress on family life adds
another dimension to the program.
Love it!!! Please keep it up!!
I love this show. Please keep it going
Disappointed that viewership only counts if you watch it before 3:00 am on the day it comes out. This is my favorite show but i don’t watch it until the weekend because it comes on so late on a weeknight.
Great renewed for another season, great program and it gets better every week.
The more episodes I watch, the more I like it. The writers are putting together good stories; making it deeper. I am getting into each character and their development and the ties between them all. Sooo glad CBS is keeping it.
Really like the series
I don’t understand how the ratings seem to keep dropping week after week 🙁 this show is utterly FANTASTIC! It’s also important because it employs real life veterans, discusses important issues with the military and the care of its service members, and brings excellent drama every week! CBS doesn’t give this show enough of a chance with the time slot and lack of promotion. COME ON CBS, DON’T LET US DOWN!
Agree with Caitlin 100%!!! Best show on TV
I totally agree with Caitlin it has a great storyline and I particularly like how the issues concerning what the military faces with PTSD and also medical issues this is a great TV show just my opinion but I see you a few other good opinions.
