Cop shows are no stranger to fake crime scenes, but what about real ones? Deadline reports a dangerous altercation recently occurred during the production of Shades of Blue‘s second season.
The NBC drama stars Jennifer Lopez as Harlee Santos, an NYPD detective and single mother who begins working as an anti-corruption informant for the FBI. The cast also includes Ray Liotta, Drea de Matteo, Warren Kole, and Sarah Jeffrey.
While shooting this week in Brooklyn, those on set reported hearing gunshots and other criminal behavior. Security and police were present on the scene. Though there are conflicting reports about what actually happened, guest star Kathryn Kates did give a comment to Deadline:
I had a late call, and was picked up from my NYC apartment around 4PM. I was driven to the Bedford Stuyvesant address in Brooklyn. They had used this neighborhood last season and my character, Mrs. Saperstein’s home is there.
I was driven to my trailer, which was right behind JLO’s trailer but she had left a few hours earlier. I arrived late in the day around 4:30 and there were police cars when I arrived – and I was told there had been gunshots – but I don’t know what happened with that, all seemed fine and there was a police presence. my trailer was many blocks from the set.
I was sent to hair and makeup and then, hours later while very dark, I was inside my trailer with a woman named Tracey from wardrobe. We heard a commotion outside, then banging on my door and female voices pleading to let them in. Tracey opened the door and quickly locked it – the 2 PA’s rushed in saying they were being threatened and, had she not locked the door, whomever was outside would have gotten in. The people outside started banging on my door. I was about to call 911 but they were already on the walkie talkies with the producers and security. and within 5 minutes, we were escorted to a van and taken to a trailer closer to the set.
Shortly after, I was escorted to the set (the downstairs of a house) and the director, Jim McKay, and the producer, David DeClerque, kept me there. There was a final scene with Warren Kole (who plays Stahl) but it was an outside shot and they cancelled it. Warren Kohl and I were the only actors working last night. We wrapped sometime after 11PM.”
What do you think? Have you seen Shades of Blue? Will you watch season two?
Absolutely love this show! I think the acting is great, the story line is great and overall it’s a great TV series. I’m a bit confused as to why it isn’t more popular or with higher rating. I’m not much of a TV person, especially nowadays with so much vulgarity and nonsense on most shows but this show is one I look forward to watching weekly and next season. Keep up the amazing work.
I have really enjoyed the show so far and have been waiting in suspense for Shades of Blue to come back in. It is very believable and I’m always on the edge of my seat waiting to see what is going to happen next. I hope that it lasts many more seasons. It’s not just another cop show.
This was packed with a lot of great drama, suspense, and who done it. Every actor was believable and JLO as usual was right on the mark. hope they don’t do the cutting block on this one, it would be a mistake just as SOA series.
I love the show & can’t wait till it comes backl for season 2 . I’m to find out when it will be back on tv
