Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

We loved Terriers!
This so disappointing for me. Enjoyed the show so much that I looked to the next episode. Why is it that everytime I get hooked on a great show, they take it off the air? Boo on FX!!! Please consider giving it another try!
I’m very disappointed in the cancelation of this awesome show. Found myself looking forward to the next episode. It seems like everytime I find a good show, they take it off the air. Booooo!!!!!!!
I am so disappointed that Terriers is cancelled. It is apparent that when a show has its own distinct identity, nothing like the usual crap that keeps airing, it gets axed. FX, really I thought this network would be different. Renew this show!!!!
Loved, loved, loved this show. Grew up in San Diego and spent many days & nights down in O.B.
Wish this show would be given another chance. Logue is AWESOME, as is the rest of the cast and the writing.
SO DISAPPOINTED!
I’m so annoyed that a show with such smart writing combined with great acting isn’t given a chance next to reality tv drivel. I loved this show and never missed an episode. Please give the show another chance!!!!
My wife and I have been hooked ever since the first episode. Wednesday nights was Terriers night…now we have nothing. FX..please listen to the fans. A little better promotion and you’d have the rating numbers you’re seeking. This show is/was GOLD.
So sorry to see it go. It was our favorite show. BOOO!!!!!
It is beyond comprehension that half the reality shows plastered all over the channel spectrum continue on season after season, and a truly well written, well acted television show such as Terriers get cancelled. I sure hope another network with half a brain cell among them will see the potential and pick this show up.
great show—-don’t cancel–try it again another season —some people slow to catch it, but everybody loves it
OMG. My husband and I actually changed sat. providers just so we could watch Terriers on FX. I don’t know how you count your viewers but all our friends watch it and I really think you should pull your heads out of your buttholes and get with the program and put it back on.
Please!!! Save this show. The characters are unique, loveable with all their flaws. The script is always surprising. It’s not your cookie cutter show. Give it a chance, schedule it right after Justified.
we love terriers. we did not ever miss an episode, and the vip’s of fx network are cancelling terriers future no, no!!!!
do not cancel terriers——–catchy name for a tv show, and a good show.
It is very disappointing that FX is not giving Terriers another chance. It was a well written, quirky show with great characters- I loved it. I even got my college-age nephews and 30-something grownup kids hooked. Terriers was in the “Homicide: Life on the Streets” vein, a show where dialogue and character were as important as the plot. I guess I should be used to the fact that thoughtful, smart tv shows don’t last (like Keen Eddie) and stupid ones continue. Please bring Terriers back to life!
