What’s This TV Show About?
A sci-fi drama series airing on the Syfy cable channel, The Ark TV show stars Christie Burke, Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read, and Ryan Adams. The story takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have become necessary to secure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One encounters a catastrophic event that causes massive destruction and loss of life. The survivors have more than a year left in their journey to their target planet. In season two, after the brave crew of Ark One reaches their destination and finds it uninhabitable, they must survive long enough to locate a new home for themselves and all the ships that follow. Characters include Lt. Sharon Garnet (Burke), Lt. Spencer Lane (Ritchie), Lt. James Brice (Fleeshman), Alicia Nevins (Read), and Angus Medford (Adams).
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Ark averages a 0.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 249,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 47% in the demo and down by 37% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (includes DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Will Syfy cancel or renew The Ark for season three? The ratings for this show have been good in the past, and I think series co-creator Dean Devlin knows how to make the most of a limited budget. That said, Syfy seems to be pulling back from producing its own scripted series, and the ratings for season two are not impressive. This one could go either way. This is perhaps the best show on TV. I dearly hope it isn’t cancelled. People who don’t care for prestige TV and want fun case of the week scifi need something to watch! I hope the last show like that on TV isn’t taken away.
I’m a fan of The Ark. I enjoyed Season One, am very pleased with direction and character development in Season Two, and I very much hope that there will be a Season Three. Having said that, I believe that the 15-month delay between Season One and Season Two is THE major (if not only) cause of reduced viewer percentages. I would also say that ten episodes does NOT constitute a “season” — in fact, it’s barely more than the length of a mini-series. Season lengths seem to ebb & flow. When I was a kid it wasn’t unusual for a season to have 20 or 30 episodes, but nowadays 10-12 seems about average. And I agree that excessive lengths of time between seasons can unfairly doom a good show. Resident Alien seems to be the most recent victim of that.
Please don’t even think about canceling the show it is wonderful it’s the only decent thing on TV and it would break my heart if you canceled it so please make sure you make a season 3 4 5 and on and on. There hasn’t been a new science fiction space show forever and we need that in our lives and I just think you have done such a school job casting the show and the storyline it has just been such a pleasure to watch so please don’t think about canceling it please

I think it’s a well thought out series and pretty close to what humanity would be like if a catalytic event caused humanity to leave Earth. I’m hooked on this series and sincerely hope that SYFY doesn’t cancel the series. It seems that SYFY channel has a history of cancelling series more over budget than appealing to their fans. Hopefully another channel picks up the series if SYFY cancels the Ark.
I only watch two shows. The Ark and a home renovation show. Please don’t cancel.
