The new ABC series called the forgotten has received a bit of good news. The network has decided to order five more installments. Does this mean that it won’t be cancelled?
Starring Christian Slater, the forgotten follows a group of civilians who work together to find missing persons once the police have reached a dead end. Aside from Slater, the series features the talents of Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Bob Stephenson, Rochelle Aytes, Anthony Carrigan, Judith Hoag, and Lily Rains.
Debuting on September 22nd, the forgotten got off to a slow start with just a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.54 million total viewers. It lost a large percentage of the Dancing with the Stars lead-in audience and 12% of viewers tuned in before the hour was done.

The following week, viewership dropped to a 2.0 in the demo and 7.72 million. While overall viewership fluctuated in later weeks, the demo numbers stayed at the same disappointing level.
In a somewhat surprising move, ABC has decided to order five additional installments. Of the news, co-executive producer KristieAnne Reedd tweeted, “Very excited about the additional order of episodes for the forgotten.”
While this may seem like the network has faith in the series, it’s more likely an indication of other scheduling challenges caused by things like the cancellation of Eastwick.
Unless the forgotten’s ratings turn around, it’s difficult to imagine that ABC will order any more or invest in a second season.
What do you think? Can the forgotten be saved or is it living on borrowed time?

I love the forgotton!!!!!!! its diff then your average dramas on tv finally something new! Please keep it on!!!!! The characters are awsome!!
I love this show, but I watch it online on Cast TV, I hope your able to see how many people watch these shows online, I’m also very sad that Eastwick is being cancelled, I also watch it on either Cast TV or Fancast, not sure if this messes with the ratings. So please don’t cancel this show, it’s a great show different from most cop shows.
Thanks,
please keep the forgotten! i love this show!! and stfu suxie, you dont know what your talking about, the show has nothing to do with ethnicity. maybe you should watch more than the first five minutes and youd see for yourself!
This show was such an inspiration to me I have been looking in to becoming a volunteer
for helping to identify these poor lost people who end up in Potters Fields.
I love this show! It’s the second best new show this season behind NCIS:LA in my opinion. I like how the victim narrates the show and the stories have been great so far. The cast is also great and Slater as the lead, in one of his better roles of his career. I just don’t understand all the bad comments The Forgotten is getting. To me, this show is just as good as Criminal Minds, the CSI’S and Cold Case, and i hope it gets a second season.
Suxie, is such an idiot. They have no smidgen of diversity. Isn’t the female detective African American?
I love this show. It keeps me intrigued, and it touches emotionally too. The cast has good chemistry interaction with each other, and I identify with them as a team. I would be disappointed if they cancelled it. Please keep The Forgotten. It is such a great show.
Love Christian Slater but this show is terrible I hope he can find some show to get on that doesnt suck.
Almost the entire cast is white. Suxie must be confused or a professional troll. It’s a great show, it just needs a better time slot.
What the hell does race have to do with anything????? LOSER!!!! This show is awsome! I love it!!! I’m sure it will be cancelled!!! I agree wit the reality crap TV!!!! UNREAL!!!! Hey ABC and everyone else, its ok to keep a show that’s not reality!!! IDIOTS!!!!!
I love this show! AND I agree with Anon, I am over 60 and I usually tape shows on my DVR (this being one of them) to avoid the commercials which R mostly idiotic, I also want to mention that because of this show a very dear friend of mine whose brother disappeared many years ago was givien new hope in possibly being able to find out if he is a John Doe,this was made available to her thru the NamUs.org which Christian Slater promoted on his show.
I like this show, and Chrisian Slater, I hope it sticks. But I’m not optimistic. The 15-minutes of fame, 1 minute attention span “reality” show crowd seems to have taken over – at least in the minds of the network bigwigs. Someone should make THEM watch the endless parade of attnetion-whoring pseudo-celebrities and “news” magazine shows that dominate the airwaves. Being 51 years old, I guess I’m not one of the “desired” viewers, but it’s not like I don’t spend any money. Someday maybe the advertisers will realize that the 18 – 49 set are the ones using DVR and… Read more »
Thank you ABC for keeping a show on the air that is actually making an impact on people. Peace 4 the Missing (http://peace4missing.ning.com/), a share site for the families of the missing, has recently gotten an influx of members because this show is inspiring them to reach out and help. Awareness of this epedimic of missing and unidentifieds in the US is so crucial to getting answers for the families….with awareness comes the hope of answers. The only thing I would like to see the show do more of is concentrating and portraying correctly what the families of the missing… Read more »
I think suxie is overly harsh. I have watched every show and take umbrage at suxie’s comment about ethnicity. Why does race/ethnicity have to do with the show’s quality? Why does everything have to be seen in terms of race?
Love “The Forgotten”. I watch it every week.
It should have been cancelled after the first episode.
Correction, it should have been cancelled before the first episode.
Just because they need an ethnic cast member, in my opinion, they should find one with talent. Actually, I’d like to see more ethnic diversity in this cast but they made a poor choice here. Acting is more than being a pretty face or scowling so seriously. I have tried to give the show a chance but I always change to another show after a few minutes. Christian Slater is good. It’s the cast that surrounds him that needs help.
