The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots just kicked off on OWN this week. While the series hasn’t been cancelled, it seems like the Tyler Perry drama is coming to an end in 2021 and won’t have a ninth season.
Airing on Tuesday nights, The Haves and the Have Nots stars John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Angela Robinson, Renee Lawless, Crystal Fox, Peter Parros, Tyler Lepley, Gavin Houston, and Aaron O’Connell. The drama centers on the complicated dynamic between the Cryer, Harrington, and Young families of Savannah, Georgia. In season eight of this drama series, Judge Cryer (Schneider) and his rich friends are all finding out what happens when personal flaws go unchecked. Karma has not been kind to the elite one-percenters.
The eighth season of The Haves and the Have Nots currently averages a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 873,000 viewers. Compared to season seven, that’s down by 60% in the demo and down by 34% in viewership. The series was once the cable channel’s highest-rated show but the premiere’s numbers put it much closer to the bottom of the list. Is it time for the show to end?
New York Post recently ran a profile about Robinson under the title “Haves and Have Nots star breaks down its final season”. The article goes on to confirms that the series is ending by noting “It kicks off its final season Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the cable network.” and “Robinson tells fans to expect the final season of The Haves and Have Nots to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
But wait, hasn’t the cast already filmed a ninth season? Maybe not.
In 2019, Houston said that he was about to start filming the ninth season of the series. The season lengths for this series have been very inconsistent — ranging from nine to 44 episodes a season — so, OWN could have changed their plans about how the episodes would be grouped.
OWN has been quiet about the show’s immediate future. However, Perry’s other shows on the channel have already ended. In 2017, Perry signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of television each year for ViacomCBS outlets (including BET and BET+) so that’s been keeping him very busy.
It’s unclear how many episodes in season eight but hopefully, The Haves and the Have Nots will have a satisfying conclusion.

My family and I have been watching the Have and Have Nots since it first aired. My mother who is 87 years old has been watching it too along with us and she truly loves it as much as we do. We be mad whenever it goes off for the season and to think that it might not have a 9th Season is disheartening. I’m very disturbed that this show will not be renewed. I looked forward to watching TheHaveAnd The Havenot. If I wasnt home I would record it so that I could watch it. Please dont cancel
I love the “HAHN!” I also miss ” If loving you is wrong”, I wait impatiently for it every Tuesday. Hope we get a ninth season

I don’t want the have or have nots to be cancelled. I Love this show. It shows just how devious people are especially in real life. I get on the phone when the show is over and we comment about the show and try to guess what’s going to be on the next week. Please don’t cancel it. You can cancel if loving you is wrong!
Time to go! I have gotten frustrated with the show. I am so glad we have some positive African American shows such as All Rise and For Life. Now David wants to get with Hannah (according to the preview) after being with a prostitute that he put in foster catechism she was a child. How disgraceful…maybe that is why the ratings went down.IJS
This show is Amazing & the Actors are Superb. It’s a nighttime Soap that’s better than the day Drana. Please keep it on not much to watch
It was something a little off about that show
I love the Have and Have Not’s, I also miss If Loving You is Wrong, Too Close To Home. But we ALL love the HAHN’s!!! We gossiped over the phone and text back and forth about it. PLEASE DON’T STOP THE SERIES!
I have been a fan since season 1, though I have to admit throughout the seasons has gotten a little boring Last season and this season aren’t very interesting, Mr.Perry needs to have more interesting story line with the actors, we all know Kandi will be the same kandi, Veronica will be the person she is, when will he have a story line where they get caught up in all their lies.
If Loving you is wrong went off with alot of unanswered questions…Please Mr.Perry let this show go off with a good ending

I have watched from the beginning also, halfway through things began to change. The writer you have now did a horrible job. After watching on Tuesday I was done. I kept sacrificing to pay my cable bill for this show now I can finally have cable turned off. Good luck Mr. Perry.
I believe a couple of additional seasons would be GREAT!! Lets see the Middle Class come up looking as the rich. We now see how the Rich is going through a Downfall now. Once we see how they can get out of their situations, they will make a comeback. Let’s end this with a few Big Bangs of how some of Tyler’s episodes ended. For instances; death, closures on Revenge, and what about, Love & Happiness for some couples. This is my Dream Ending, give us at least one or two more episodes.
