TV show description:
From creator Tim Doyle, The Kids Are Alright TV show is an ensemble sitcom, set in the 1970s. The series follows the Cleary family, a traditional Irish-Catholic clan, as they live out their lives amidst the upheaval of the 1970s.
The story unfolds in a great Los Angeles working-class neighborhood. The family is headed up by married couple Peggy (McCormack) and Mike Cleary (Cudlitz), who are raising eight rowdy and energetic sons. Because this is the 70s, the boys live most of their lives outside, and they do so with a lack of supervision that might cause modern helicopter parents to faint.
Their lives are chugging along more as less as expected, until the Clearys’ eldest son, Lawrence (Straley) comes home to announce he’s quitting the seminary. Instead of pursuing the priesthood, he wants to embark on a mission to “save the world.” Mike and Peggy never expected to be raising their brood in such turbulence, but as the song goes, the times they are a-changing.
Series Finale:
Episode #23 — Irish Goodbye
Peggy struggles with Lawrence’s decision to move out of the house, especially after she discovers that he is secretly moving in with a girlfriend she’s never met. Lawrence’s determination to keep Peggy out of his personal life only causes her to investigate further, while Mike welcomes his departure. Meanwhile, Timmy can’t find his ventriloquist dummy, Knuckles, and learns that Joey took him without asking.
First aired: May 21, 2019.
What do you think? Do you like The Kids Are Alright TV series? Should this ABC TV show have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I was searching online to see when this show would start again and was disappointed to learn it’s been cancelled. It was a great show. Lately ABC seems to cancel good shows after just one or two seasons. This is why we don’t watch too much on the big networks any more. They have terrible programs and cancel the good ones.
Great show! Sorry it is gone
Great family show! Great family! They really showed how the 70’s were. Please bring it back.
This is an incredibly funny show. Made me laugh out loud! The network executives should be fired for cancelling this show!
We loved this show!!! Shame it’s cancelled. Such a hysterical slice of life how it you to be show. Bring it back!!!
mike taylor: cancelling that show was a big mistake by the network, as it was one of the funniest shows on tv.?????
The best new comedy on tv last year. Ridiculous, that with all the crap on network tv, this was canceled.
I really liked this show! I loved the tenacity of Peggy the mother and the red haired son was very talented!!
I recorded this show; I LOVED IT. So much like what it was like for me growing up. Please bring it back.
One of the funniest shows ever! What a disappointment to have it cancelled.
I loved watching this show being that I grew up in the 70’s I could relate to it. but not only that it was very funny loved the sibling rivalry between the brothers I’m going to miss it and disappointed that it was cancelled of all the shows that should have been cancelled they chose this show. Damn! I was looking forward to the 2 nd season.
Really disappointed that this show was cancelled. It was funny, fresh and original. One of the few shows that would have my husband and I laughing out loud. Great concept, casting and writing…I just don’t get it.
This show made us laugh harder than most. I’m very sad it was canceled. It was much better than “Bless This Mess” and “Single Parents” (although the Single Parents’ adults are excellent actors). Please bring back “The Kids are Alright.”
Well, maybe not an award winner, but I rather enjoyed it and found myself laughing at it a lot. Disappointed they canceled out. Oh well.
I loved this show bring it back.
