Talon’s fight is nearly over. The CW has cancelled The Outpost TV series so it won’t have a fourth season (or a fifth season, depending on your numbering preference). The series finale airs on October 7th.
An adventure-fantasy drama series, The Outpost stars Jessica Green, Jake Stormoen, Imogen Waterhouse, Anand Desai-Barochia, Aaron Fontaine, Adam Johnson, Izuka Hoyle, and Jaye Griffiths. The story centers on Talon (Green), the lone survivor of the “Blackbloods” race. When she was still a child, a ruthless mercenary gang slaughtered her entire village. Now that she has come of age, Talon has come into a mysterious power. In season three, Talon finds herself betrayed by her own kind, after summoning Zed and his Blackblood comrades to save the Outpost. She struggles to reconcile her human friends and her heritage.
The extended third season of The Outpost averages a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 397,000 viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 50% in the demo and down by 33% in viewership.
The cancellation doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. Here’s why. The network ordered 13 additional episodes for the third season prior to season three’s October 2020 launch. The CW then split up the third season into two parts with a six-month break. The second batch premiering in July.
A little over a month ago, a CW representative confirmed to us that the second batch of episodes was still considered as part of season three. However, on Twitter, executive producers Jonathan Glassner and Dean Devlin have both referred to the current episodes as season four. In addition, even The CW’s own streaming platform refers to the current episodes as season four.
If the show had had a chance of being renewed for an actual fourth season, the network would have made an effort for everyone to be on the same page about the numbering. It seems likely that, when the final 13 episodes were ordered, it had already been decided that they would end the show.
Liked the show. Disappointed it was cancelled
pretty good show ,liked it alot, it just comes down to network money , the leaders of the networks just dont care about the audiences likes
I enjoyed series, I will missed it. I wished it would extend to end of year at least. Great ending with Talon become queen.
Love the show. Loved Talon. Hate to see that it has been cancelled. I am glad that they did a great job on the last episode but still so sad to see it ended.
This was a great show! I found it on Amazon and after I started watching it at the beginning, I was hooked. Don’t cancel! Love Talon
I hate that The Outpost has been cancelled. I looked forward to watching this show every week. Please renew this show for more seasons. It was different than the standard fare you see on TV and brought a little fantasy in our life for one evening.
Well you dumped The Outpost sure hope you make money on its replacement so you don’t have to dump other decent fantasy sci-fi shows
I hate hearing no season five of the Outpost!… Hopefully, the powers at be will rethink this action… It was a fun adventure and escape at least for a hour from today’s events…
so bummed!!! this is a great show, never boring….ugh! what a drag!!
Very disappointed! This show was great, and improved season over season! It’s likely the loss of viewership was due to the pause and those people would be back!
Why is this site saying the show was canceled and there wont be a 4th season ??? i just say on m TV on SYFY channel a promo for the 4th season.
And im in portugal :/
In some countries, the second half of season three is labeled as season four.
I do wish there would be a Season 5. As it is we as viewers will have to tie up all the loose ends of the story with our own theories. Is it possible that another network will pick up a 5th season?
So very disappointed. I loved this this show. So different from other ones.
This was inevitable. The CW never promoted this show. It was a summer filler and acquired from the Syfy International channel (we all know how well SciFi/Fantasy shows do on the “Syfy” network. This is a great binge-watch show for those who want to try to catch it on Amazon or later on some other streaming service.
One more great fantasy show from Dean Devlin! Loved the Librarians and really enjoyed this show. Hate they canceled it…just when you really get into it….it’s gone…..please bring it back
