The Whole Truth: Petition to Save the ABC TV Show from Being Cancelled

The Whole Truth tv showWith talent actors like Maura Tierney and Rob Morrow, you would think that The Whole Truth would become an instant hit. You would be wrong. The early ratings are terrible and it means that, unless viewership greatly increases, the new legal drama will be cancelled.

What can you do? Remember, the ideal scenario for ABC is for many millions of people to watch the show on their television sets, while it’s being broadcast. Unfortunately, ratings are put together based on a sampling of viewers. If you’re a “Nielsen household,” your viewing is being counted. If not, it’s not.

However, if you like The Whole Truth and want to see it continue, there are a few things you can do to help.

  1. If you’re a Nielsen family, watch the show whenever it’s on. If not, watch it on ABC.com or purchase episodes online so your viewing will be directly counted. Encourage others to watch the show. You might know a Nielsen family and not be aware of it.
  1. Talk about the show with others; at school, at work, online, or wherever. Creating a buzz about a show that you’re invested in gets other people interested and might help bring former viewers back.
  1. Sign the petition below and encourage others to do the same.
  1. Write to the network. Be respectful. Everyone responds better to courtesy. Tell them how much you enjoy the show, that you’ve signed the petition, and that you want to see it continue. You can use this form or, even better, write via “snail-mail” to: Mr. Paul Lee, President, ABC, 500 S. Buena Vista Street, Burbank, CA 91521, RE: The Whole Truth
  1. Take note of the products that are advertised during the show. Write the advertisers and tell them that you appreciate their sponsoring the show and that you buy their products (if you do).

To ABC, Bonanza Productions, Jerry Bruckheimer Television, and Warner Bros. Television:

We, the undersigned, enjoy watching The Whole Truth on the ABC network. It has interesting characters, great actors and an interesting twist that gives people an insight into how cases are fought.

Please find a way to keep The Whole Truth on the air. We are devoted viewers who will continue to watch the program, encourage others to do the same, and will support the series’ advertisers as well. Please keep it going, either on ABC or, if necessary, on another Disney-owned channel.

Thank you for your consideration.

LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!! Great real life show with an answer to "who done it" every time. I am a heart-broken die hard orginal Law & Order fan and this comes really close to something that could fill the empty space of that being cancelled, if given a chance. Please rerun all episodes and give people a chance to love it as much as everyone that is writing to you does. I still have episodes saved on my DVR to watch again, very entertaining. Bring it back!!

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!!!! Needs to be put back on....came on without warning and was over way too soon. Episodes were bumped at times, which didn't help. With Law & Order biting the dust (GRRRR) this show could really take off if given a chance. No other show like it, with great actors and an answer to "who did it" ending to each and every show. Rerun the original episodes and advertise that they will be on....give the people notice of this great show....bring it back!!!!!

This was my favorite new show of the season and I immediately moved it to the top slot on my DVR! I was devastated to see it cancelled. Please show the episodes that have already been filmed that never aired and give this gem another chance! The chemistry between Morrow and Tierney was excellent, as was the unusual storytelling technique. I LOVE this show!

I found this show very intriguing, and Maura Tierney is beyond amazing in it.

Love the show. Finally a Lawyer show that seemed like it really could happen. And showed not just one side of the story.

i Love this show its the first lawyer show ive every loved&watched please give it another chance.put it up against a not so high rated show like csi ny or miami.dont se{bleep}up to fail by putting it against a higher rated show. Please givr it another chance!

Loved the show!! ABC should give it a chance. Shows like Cheers and Seinfeld did not win any ratings wars their first season....good thing they were given a chance to find an audience. Networks pull the plug too quickly. The Whole Truth had a very fresh approach to telling a story...very different from anything I've seen. Please bring it back!

Having worked in Law Enforcement over 22 years, 4 years in the District Attorneys office, and having a Son convicted for Homicide I have seen all the aspects of the legal process. The Whole Truth was one of the few shows that come even close to showing what happens in the legal system. DA's and Defense Attorneys for the most part seperate the case and their friendship with each other. This is closer to the real world than the fictional Crime Drama's shown in other shows. If you don't believe it try polling ADA' and Attorneys .

keep it on i love it

I was very disappointed when I discovered that The Whole Truth had been cancelled. In my view it was the most intellectually challenging show to appear on network television in recent times. The perspective from both sides was thought provoking and the often disturbing ending mirrored real life. Sometimes a verdict is disturbing even when due process has been rendered. I hope you will consider bringing it back, perhaps in a different time shot or on a different evening.

I loved this show! I kept looking for it and finally looked it up on line to find it has been canceled. Why?! Great show! Give it time to catch on. I have not found anything worth bringing me back to my couch/TV relationship since it has not been on. Nothing compares.
  • BobCountry: Canada2011-02-09 08:33:36
Great show, Game shows win over good shows???? Sure I watch them a couple of times but then there is nothing else on because the cancel the good ones. People seem to want shows were they don't need to think. Such a shame.
  • LenaCountry: USA2011-02-06 11:45:53
    Loved the show!
  • ClassyTCountry: U.S.2011-02-06 03:29:26
Rob Morrow was absolutely AWESOME in this role. This is one of the MOST creative legal shows ever!!! The fact that it depicts the crime and case from 2 perspectives is genius. The ending was a real cliff hanger as we, the audience, tried to determine innocence or guilt. I LOVE this show and you should bring it back. Again, many of us techies watch these shows via the computer and you or Nielsen should find away to count us. Just like everything else, TV, is becoming obsolete, and online computer is forging ahead. Can't we all move into the 21st century together.
