Toast is a new comedy pilot in production for ABC, and it is coming from Shonda Rhimes’ production company, Shondaland. The series has added another member to its cast, which already includes Jono Kenyon and Jerrika Hinton.

According to Deadline, Punam Patel has been cast in the comedy as “Arden, a charmingly spoiled life of the party who is first up to give a toast at the rehearsal dinner and definitely says more than she should.”

The series will feature a couple’s wedding and through flashbacks it will show their rocky road to marriage. Some fans are wondering if Hinton’s casting will take her away from another Shonda Rhimes series, Grey’s Anatomy.

Entertainment Weekly offered this teaser from Rhimes herself:

“As of now, ‘Stephanie is still there,’ executive producer Shonda Rhimes says. But seriously, will this affect Stephanie? ‘Not yet.’ Cryptic. Not surprising. It is Shondaland, after all.”
