While the writing has been on the wall for sometime, now it’s official. The Valor TV show has been cancelled by The CW after one short season. In January, during the 2018 TCA winter press tour, network president Mark Pedowitz all but broke the news, so we have been expecting this cancellation for a while, now.
A CW military drama, Valor stars Christina Ochoa, Matt Barr, Charlie Barnett, Corbin Reid, W. Trè Davis, Nigel Thatch, and Melissa Roxburgh. The story centers on the Shadow Raiders, a crack unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots, and the mysterious Thea (Roxburgh), who investigates the unit’s failed Somalia mission.
Valor: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Valor averaged a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 958,000 viewers. Even compared to the other scripted CW TV shows, those ratings are very low — particularly for a new hourlong drama series.
Here’s more from The Hollywood Reporter:
Valor
The Matt Barr- and Christina Ochoa-led military drama — a passion project for CW president Mark Pedowitz — will be honorably discharged at the network. Launched in the fall, the series was one of multiple military dramas to air in the 2017-18 broadcast season. The series failed to cut through and wrapped its run after its initial 13-episode order with The CW opting to put its faith in its Dynasty reboot — which has a lucrative deal with Netflix working in its favor. For his part, Barr was rewarded for his service with the lead in CW pilot Skinny Dip.
Life Sentence was also cancelled by The CW, today. Get the details here.
What do you think? Did you watch the Valor TV series? Should The CW have cancelled or renewed for season two?
Whoever decide to cancel Valor is and idiot. Everyone I have talked to loved this show and was waiting for season 2, only show I TV I watched this past winter and never missed a show.
shame on you CW . a dynasty reboot? seriously ! like dallas worked. you had a really great show and cast on valor and it went against a number of other military drama’s that went way beyond what it should have. BRING THIS BACK SOON . i have never made a bad call on a future hit and NO OTHER MILITARY DRAMA CENTERRED AROUND HELICOPTER PILOTS AND THEIR SKILLS. it was a sure hit any other season. DONT SCREW THIS UP
I really liked this show for many reasons. Christina was a strong and powerful woman, yet did not come across like so many women do as a feminist and hater of males. She could hold her own with anyone, yet managed to portray herself as a true woman with feelings. Barr was fantastic as her partner and you could feel the good chemistry between them. Barr was not the typical male you see on TV that is painted as weak willed and stupid and has to be led around by a woman. He was his own man and was true… Read more »
I really enjoyed this show. I love watching military shows. Was a favorite of mine very sad to see it go
Just watched on Netflix, my husband and I really enjoyed it! We were wondering when season 2 was coming out, maybe enough people watched on Netflix to change the minds to go forward with another season.
I’m not surprised by this as it lacked the spark needed to make it watchable.
Loved this show. Very disappointed cw.
This is very sad! This was the best show ever! Wish it was going to be on again. This was the best show on the CW ! They should have gave it a chance!
So very disappointed. All good shows get cancelled…
Disappointing to see shows like this not really given the chance to grow. I for one really enjoyed it, and was hoping it wouldn’t get cancelled, still at least they can make some more shows about models, fat shaming and house flipping!
I really loved the show and I am upset that they cancelled it and never really gave it a chance. They keep all these other stupid shows and always cancel the good ones. I will not watch another show on the CW
The only stupid show is a stupid military show on our superhero and supernatural shows network, and judging by your comment, you don’t watch anything else on it anyway, so bye, no loss there. And bye Valor.
I loved that show. Seems unfair to judge on just one season. I’m very, very disappointed.
That’s a bunch of crap. Come on really? I loved that show
How sad. This military dram could have been a top shelf drama with decent writers and someone with imagination. Being replaced with low budget film is just making me watch less TV.
I am very disappointed that Valor got cancelled. Was looking forward to season 2. A great series always starts, then the viewers get left hanging. Sad!
