The first 79 episodes of the Vikings TV show aired on History. Then, late last year, it was announced that the final 10 episodes of the series would be released on Amazon Prime Video first, on December 30th. Regular cable viewers would have to wait. The final episodes were then released on Hulu on March 30th and regular cable viewers had to keep waiting.
Well, the long wait is finally over. History has quietly announced that the final episodes of Vikings will begin airing on Saturday, June 5th, at 8/7c.
An action-adventure series, the sixth season of Vikings stars Alexander Ludwig, Alex Høgh Andersen, Peter Franzén, Katheryn Winnick, Jordan Patrick Smith, and Marco Ilsø. Danila Kozlovsky, Georgia Hirst, Adam Copeland, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Ragga Ragnars, Steven Berkoff, and Eric Johnson have recurring roles. The period drama delves into the Viking warriors and their strange, ruthless world. Season six picks up after the battle which has left Bjorn (Ludwig) victorious and a hero to the people who have been under the tyrannical rule of Ivar (Høgh) for so long. As the new leader of Kattegat, Bjorn struggles to fill his late father’s shoes as king, while facing several dilemmas and wrestling with the idea that power overshadows morals. Meanwhile, Ivar, searching for a new path to separate him from his past, is seen traveling along The Silk Road eventually leading him to Russia.
Here’s a teaser for the final episodes:
Netflix has already ordered Vikings: Valhalla, a spin-off to the Vikings show. It will take place a century later and will tell the story of well-known Norsemen like Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir, Harald Hardrada, and the Norman King William the Conqueror.

What do you think? Have you enjoyed the Vikings TV series? Will you be watching the final episodes on History or, have you already seen them on Amazon Prime Video or Hulu?
I love the Vikings. It has been the best show I have ever watched. I don’t normally get interested in shows. It will be deeply missed. The writer out done himself. Bravo
I have watched The Vikings from 1st episode. Yes I fell in love with King Ragnar. Many people in groups I belong to said they will not watch the show without King Ragnar. I fell in LOVE WITH THE SERIES FROM DAY 1. NOT with a character alone THE SHOW itself So many great WARRIORS…..
I’ve totally loved the series feeling the joy and despair. I really miss Ragnar, he went too soon. Come on Bjorg…….xxxxxx
Hoping he is not dead…. I read he is not dead n rides in on a horse to lead his people into the war.
I’ve watched every single episode of Vikings. Ragnar’s character was one of the best acting jobs ever, and Lagerthia was pretty damn good too. I think the early episodes beers the best, and the scene were Ragnar died was epic! But, then the show tailed off some. Ragnar’s sons never really stepped up to fill the gap, and History really handled the final episodes very poorly.
Netflix canceled Norsemen. I canceled Netflix Haha
I already finished watching Vikings and the finale was ok. Not great but not terrible either. Initially I fell in love with Vikings. Seasons 1 thru 3 were awesome. I laughed so hard when Rollo was trying to learn French and the person teaching him was starting to annoy Rollo so he mocked him and then grabbed and threw him across the room. If you have seen this scene you know what I mean!
I absolutely have enjoyed this series. It is my most favorite. I loved the attention to detail. The actors did an excellent job! I hate to see it end. The. Actor that played Ragnar his personality and his intensity was amazing! All of the actors brought their best to the table
I agree 109%….only 1 other show in my lifetime (61yrs old that comes even close is SOA…. both my #1s..
Vikings is a really great series we all love it and look forward to the season. It’s a big mistake to end the series with such a great fan base present out here!
Well now after a year we will finally get to see the end of Vikings…so after this I will never watch any other series on History channel.
You as the History channel need to get your **** together or you will loose more fans than me. It is a slap in the face to all your fans to let Amazon have the show first.
You should be ashamed.
Oh I’ve been done with history channel for a while now. Seriously im so sick and tired of the repetitive “reality”shows. Especially when those shows are shown 247 over and over again
My husband and i love the Vikings series we have watched it on History channel since it began. We were broken hearted when we found the last 10 episodes would not air on History channel. We are 69 and 73 years of age and do not have anything but Dish Network shows. So thank you for returning it to History Channel.
One of the best series I have ever seen and the other The Kingdom, both were brilliant
Far too long to have to wait. Watched season 6 on another device but we’ll watch it again as I thoroughly enjoyed Vikings as I have the last Kingdom.
What happened to season 5???
Definitely!
As a fan who followed it on History all those seasons I feel I was screwed by the creator. I think it really sucks that I had to wait over a year to see the final season after watching the show faithfully the first 6years. Hope his next show has no fans
Just imagine the ones who purchased this legally from online stores such as iTunes and Google Play, they never got the second part of final season when it was playing on Amazon.
So miserable.
The world is ridiculous.
I was wondering what had happened to the ending.
