FOX has decided to break up with their Weird Loners sitcom. It’s been cancelled after a short season of six episodes.
A single-camera comedy, Weird Loners revolves around a quartet of underdogs who find themselves single while most of their peers are married and starting families. They’re played by Becki Newton, Meera Rohit Kumbhani, Nate Torrence, and Zachary Knighton.
The series debuted on March 31st to poor ratings and registered a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.89 million viewers. As bad as that was, the numbers got even worse in later weeks and fell as low as a 0.53 rating with 1.21 million viewers.
FOX has now pulled the plug on the series. The last episode aired this week, on Tuesday, May 5th.
What do you think? Were you one of the few that liked the Weird Loners sitcom? Is it a better show than the ratings seem to indicate?
Cancelled? It’s great show! I wanna see more. Somebody pitched it to another network
I thought that the show was not bad. I think it’s biggest problem was its network pairing. A great show on fox right now is New Girl. I believe that the fact the shows were so similar in structure made the Weird Loners fail because it did not meet up with the expectations that Fox had unknowingly set up for it.
I thought it was a good show.
Hilarious! Would’ve thrived with the right audience. Let’s see another network pick this show up!! Netflix?
Great show! Hilarious. I agree– it would’ve thrived on a network like FX.
I would like to see this show get picked up by another network. I hate when shows are cancelled after just a few episodes because it doesn’t give the show a chance to get the viewers and ratings it might accumulate throughout an entire season. I just watched the show for the first time today and I ended up watching all the episodes that were on demand and setting the series to record on my DVR before I found out it’s already been cancelled. I think the show was very funny and the characters were likable and compelling. In this… Read more »
I loved Weird Loners. I think if it was on FX, FXX, or premium cable, it would’ve survived. Just to alt and sophisticated for network comedy.
I really liked Weird Loners. I liked the characters/actors. I’m so tired of getting into a show & it be cancelled without wrapping up.
Once again Fox does what it does best cancel shows that are worth watching. This is why I hate getting invested in new shows especially on Fox. Enlisted, Reunion, and now Weird Loners. Now I’m sure there’s more but cannot remember the list is too long.
Show was very amusing and so were the characters! TO BAD
Agreed, this show was really good. I feel like getting canceled by fox is a right of passage for great shows. I call it the Futurama effect. Maybe it will get picked up by Netflix, this would pair well with the ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt ‘
Too bad. Fox did a wretched job promoting it and I believe it warranted more attention and patience.
This was the smartest, wittiest, most interesting and funny new show on tv. I stumbled across it after the first episode – I think people just didn’t know it existed. It deserved better promotion and a second season in my opinion!
This was funnier than most said about. Sorry the ratings count more than the reviews. This could have been the ‘Friends’ for the 30 somethings of today.
Lol ratings are pretty important. No point in having a show on tv that no one watches.
Sorry Tran… I guess they canceled this just like they did FOREVER!
I don’t think Forever was on Fox. They could have canceled it just like they canceled The Mindy Project, the last show that was in the time-slot-of-death after people fell asleep during New Girl.
