Despite falling ratings last season, the Z Nation TV show remains one of Syfy’s strongest scripted TV series. Can it stanch the bleeding or even regain some of its lost audience in the fourth season? Will Z Nation be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned.
A zombie apocalypse horror comedy-drama, Z Nation stars Kellita Smith, DJ Qualls, Keith Allan, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, Nat Zang, Joseph Gatt, Emilio Rivera, and Matt Cedeño. After a zombie virus infects the United States, a ragtag gang of everyday people bands together to end it. In the fourth season on Syfy, they find themselves in the middle of an even worse “Zompocalypse.” Among the foes they must face are Jugalo Zombies. They also need to locate the Zombified President of the United States – or at least his thumb.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The third season of Z Nation averaged a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 871,000 viewers.

Yes because being one of their highest rated shows for at least it’s first three seasons with consistent ratings and being their most “social” show is a failure nice didn’t know that! I feel like Season 4 may be the weakest season but it’s still a great show

I watch all 3 series Z Nation, TWD, and FTWD. Each have their pros and cons but I think ZN’s got a more realistic approach than the other’s like still trying to cure people not just survive, the super rich ******** everyone else to cure themselves, and especially the bio-weapon just to name a few. It’s also got actors that are considered D-list with a small following plus it’s not advertised / aired enough when the season isn’t running. Can’t help but think the serious drop in comedy levels and pretty plodding script/plots this time around are driving the drop in ratings. Desperately in need of some of the clever one liners and comedy last seen two series ago. If it carries on like this it will go the way of the black rainbow – disappear in a puff of ashes. Sad as has provided many more entertaining moments than the overblown, dreary ham-fest that is The Walking Dead.
Just watched the barbershop episode….really bad. There are some good ones, but it’s getting a little ridiculous now. Bring back Citizen Z and cut out some of the just plain stupud stuff! (Loved when they were on Zona as well as the first 3 seasons. This year Dec 2017, is over the top bad. LOVE the characters, and i do gee some great laughs…mostly from doc.
Every Friday I look forward to watching Z-Nation. It’s my favourite show ATM and I love how season 4 does these side stories each episode, while still giving us clues on what’s happening with Black Rainbow. Keep making a new season for the next 6 years please!!!
The ratings keep tanking horribly on this show. What is the problem? The ratings get WORSE every season. Why don’t they get better? Does SYFY care? If the overall live ratings stay right about where they are this second, it will be renewed. The live ratings DROPPING EVERY YEAR is still an EMBARASSMENT.
and yet it’s still one of Syfy’s top rated shows , and has a huge following on top of it.. Just imagine …What’s “embarrassing” is that it’s in its 4th season and with dropped ratings is still manages to out do the newest shows
The fact that it is supposedly one of SYFY’s top rated shows despite its PATHETIC ratings is because EVERY OTHER SHOW ON SYFY(except for The Magicians) DROPS every year also, or starts out with ratings that are so PATHETIC that the show should get CANCELLED! You know what that says? People NEED TO BE FIRED! Look at the first season live ratings and this season’s live ratings and try and make that argument with a straight face. Love this show. Always creative and unpredictable. Another season! The wit plus bizarre wit are a refreshing component of this show. Plus, you wrote it so we are connected to the characters. Well done.
I rate this season a B- as every epy is way out there. Can’t wait til they get back on the road. Also, would like to see the guy in the artic (?).

Not in your wildest dreams. The ratings are Nowhere near The Walking Dead. It doesn’t have the audience The Walking Dead has. It doesn’t sell anywhere in shirts, autographs, cards or anything like The Walking Dead does. It hasn’t been on as long as The Walking Dead, and it never will be. I have FACTS on my side. Season 4 is taking its time sprinkling clues about in the first few episodes. It’s an unusual approach but the show hasn’t shied away from being different. That’s not a bad thing either. I feel it’s all about to start making sense with Episode 6.
Although season 4 got off to a slow start, the series is gaining momentum as more is revealed to spark much speculation among its viewer base. It’s well worth keeping up with the ever-evolving story arc, as every episode since the first one has contained clues to where the series is going.
