Beowulf shall return to the Shieldlands, no more. C21 Media reports ITV has cancelled its Beowulf TV series after the first season. The news that Beowulf would get the axe, first broke in February.
In the US, Beowulf airs on Esquire. A fantasy drama, based on the Old English epic poem, the series stars Kieran Bew in the title role. William Hurt, Joanne Whalley, and Ed Speleers also star.

ITV had high hopes for the £17m (US$23m) adaptation of the epic poem but the programme ultimately failed to achieve high viewing figures.
An ITV spokeswoman told C21 this morning: “ITV regularly refreshes its drama portfolio and consequently Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands isn’t returning to the channel.”

I think it should’ve had at least three season the characters were starting to develop I enjoyed it I want more like Tudor like Game of the throne True blood The wire cant get enough of love Beowulf.
Tv channels and streaming services don’t give enough time for the show to be found and viewed.. There needs to be better advertising because there is so much content theses day it takes me a while to find them and or finish up other shows I’m watching. I come across great shows like this often 1-2 years later, fall in love with them and there cancelled shows. Shame, this was a good show and I would like to see more.

The cast for Beowulf was excellent. New as well as known actors who eat up the screen with their outstanding screen presence and acting skill. Lavishly produced sets and beautiful natural surroundings. The computer generated animation for the mythical creatures was second to none. It’s a travesty that it was cancelled after one season. Shame on the decision makers.

It was a great show! But the marketing for it was either poorly executed or didn’t exist ( I mean no offense!) , I didn’t even know the show existed until i watched the movie and saw it under related. Give it a season two, and hit the marketing a little harder, I think the view count will meet what was expected of season one. Heart broken, I really enjoyed the first season. Beowulf should have came back some years years ago, i have been checking it, it’s very nice to watch such an interesting series like Beowulf.
I think that Beowulf should continue as it is a new beginnings of and old epic poem

Yes I wish he has been renewed, when channels cancel series after only one season . They do not give the public time to spread the good word . For people to come across it . It seems like a cut your nose to spite your face . People love shows like this & look for them . Yet very disheartening when they stop only to start another series , only to stop that one . As per normal, good TV is put aside for mindless rubbish, this was a prgram you could watch with your son or gran , shame on ITV for canceling it,

This show kept me wanting more and more. Season 2 is a must happen. I believe this show came out at the wrong time. In 2016, everything was being compared Game of Thrones. Beowulf a legend reclaimed may not be GOT, but it sure as hell could compete with it.
