Looks like Carol’s Second Act won’t actually get a second act. CBS just announced they’ve cancelled the TV show after only one season.
The Carol’s Second Act sitcom revolves around Carol Kenney (Patricia Heaton), a woman in her 50s who has embarked on a unique second act after raising her children, getting divorced, and retiring from teaching. She pursues her dream of becoming a doctor. The cast also includes Kyle MacLachlan, Ito Aghayere, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Sabrina Jalees, Lucas Neff, and Ashley Tisdale.
The first season of Carol’s Second Act averaged a 0.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.99 million viewers. Sadly, those numbers make Carol’s Second Act one of CBS‘ lowest-rated TV shows for the 2019-20 season.
What do you think? Have you seen Carol’s Second Act? Would you have watched a second season of this CBS TV series?
I love this show I hope someone picks it up these people at CBS don’t know what there doing I don’t care about ratings maybe if you let it come back maybe more people will watch it please.
I loved the show. Very disappointed it is canceled
I love Patricia Heaton and wanted this show to be good, the 1st half was not funny or entertaining at all, but the second half picked up with funnier stuff and had a story line going. I’d hoped for a season 2, but was not surprised it got axed! Come on Patricia you can go better!
Seriously after the first three episodes I was done with it… Not funny at all… Sorry Patricia!!
I think this is crazy. This show was just taking off!!! The characters were defined and connected. This show would have been a big big hit if you would have given it a chance. What is wrong with NBC. Also, what the hell, you also have taken some other best shows away. But at least bring Carol’s Second Act back!!!!
I loved this show! Thought it was hilarious! Patricia Heaton was wonderful in it and the rest of the cast so good! I agree with Terrye on what demographic CBS was appealing to…why 18-49?
Sadly it just wasn’t funny and I gave up after 3 episodes.
All the elements were there but it just didn’t gel.
The show was serviceable, but had there been a second season, it wouldn’t have lasted the full year as they were planning to bring Kelsey Grammer on as Carol’s ex-husband and head of the hospital she worked at. Patricia Heaton and Grammer were on a sitcom once before that only lasted a season (it was after she did Everybody Loves Raymond and before The Middle). They didn’t have chemistry then and didn’t expect it here. I like Patricia and hope to see her in a better project soon.
Yes, I would have watched it. I vote to start Season 2 production and move the series to Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or CBS Access since that is what happening to almost all cancelled shows. Besides Jean-Luc Bilodeau is a hottie. 😉
This was a great show and I am disappointed to see this gone. No wonder CBS stands for Cancelling Best Shows.
I don’t like the idea of it being canceled
Thee show was an insult to Patricia Heaton’s talent. The dialog was horrific, the characters so trite and predictable. It was just a mess!
Pitty enjoyed the insane antics. Sad to see it cancelled.
Patricia Heaton deserved a better show than this loser… so unfunny!
This show was one of the funniest on TV, but CBS set it up to fail. Why were they trying to appeal to a demographic of 18-49 when the whole premise was based on a middle-aged woman? And why would they put it on at 9:30 PM in the evening? Our favorite channels are MeTV not MTV. Come on people!! A smarter network will pick it up.
