We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

why do the networks persist in runing good shows? CSI works!! Few 18 to 45 year olds do not watch tvon fridays – they are out drinking and partying. Older people are home watching tv and we like CSI and Blue Blloods too.
Keep CSI:NY. It is the only CSI that I watch anymore. The characters are more relevant and interesting.
That sucks. They should of taken of CSI Vegas when Grissom lift. It has not been worth watching and I hate CSI Miami.
Keep CSI:NY and cancel the other ones. It is the only one I watch anymore. CSI:Miami never did interest me and the 3rd one keeps changing characters too often – mstopped watching it when Ted Danson took the lead role.
Agree with Jeremy……….CSI NY is’ the best of the 3 shows. If they want to can one, start with CSI – Nevada. Whatever made them think Ted Danson would fit that script.
CSI New York does not need to be canceled. It has actually the best out of the 3, they were just given a bad time slot and it has hurt them. If they were moved back to a good spot ratings would pick back up. I watch it everytime it comes on but sometimes with the time slot I have to tape it.
Hope it doesn’t get cancelled. Only CSI I really like or watch anymore.
They need to renew the show. It is so frustrating that they change the show time slots around and then blame the rating on the show. I watch shows every week and even dvr one show while watching others and yet I bet none of that counts in there ratings it is just a random slice that could be accurate or could be way off.
CSINY is the best of the tree shows. CSI Miami drags and the Jury is still out on CSI Las Vegas without Catherine. Think ! people!
I can’t believe they want 2 cancel the show its one of my favorites there’s no a whole lot on friday let alone the weekend. Please don’t take my CSI NY away now what am I going watch?
CSI NY is for thinking, intelligent people. Unfortunately, the market is geared to mindless shows like Survivor and American Idol. Forget the 18-49 age group- how much money do they have for spending vs. The older people who have been working for years and have more disposable income? Big mistake to cancel CSI NY.
It would be a real shame to cancel CSI New York, it is one of the best shows on TV today. I say get rid of the stupid reality shows and keep great shows like CSI New York, CBS!
I have watched the CSI series since it began and it makes me sick to hear they may get rid of one or more. They are the best and it will be sad to see them end, hopefully that won’t happen.
I love CSI NY and CSI Miami, if they are going to cancel anything it should be the original Vegas. Fridays are not a good time slot for any show. Please don’t cancel CSI NY just yet!!!!
CSI:NY is the best of the three right now in my opinion. CSI:LV just never was the same after Grissom left and deffiently stinks now that Danson is the CSI supervisior! What the heck happened there?! CSI:Miami started going downhill after Mottysole(Delco’s sister) was shot and Delco and H went down to brazil and “took revenge”. Now it just seems that those two can do anything they want and get away with it. Really?!? To me, it gives police a bad name, because it could give the impression that law enforcement can do whatever they want and get away with… Read more »
