The Deuce TV show on HBO has cast two veterans from the premium cable channel’s list of greatest hits. The Wire‘s Gbenga Akinnagbe (pictured above) and True Blood‘s Chris Bauer (pictured below) have been added as series regulars in the porn industry drama starring executive producer James Franco and producer and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The Deuce TV series is created by writers and EPs David Simon and George Pelecanos.
Per Deadline, Akinnagbe has been cast as Larry Brown. He is described as, “…an intense and demanding pimp who physically intimidates his stable of women but also has moments that betray a conflicted, underlying humanity.” Bauer has booked the role of Bobby Dwyer, “a construction foreman and family man whose eyes are opened” by brothers-in-law Vincent and Frankie Martino (Franco).
The Deuce TV series cast also includes Amber Skye Noyes, Daniel Sauli, Dominque Fishback, Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., Margarita Levieva, Sepideh Moafi, Zoe Kazan, Chris Coy, Michael Rispoli, and Natalie Paul. Blown Deadline Productions is the studio. Michelle MacLaren will direct the pilot and is executive producing, as are Nina K. Noble and Richard Price.
What do you think? Do you like the sound of The Deuce TV show? Do you plan to check out the first season?
When I first glimpsed the photo of Chris Bauer I thought Heston (Blumenthal) had joined the show!
Ha! I can see that, now that you said it.
