TV show description:
As the series begins, a vapid blonde aspiring model named Deb Dobson (Brooke D’Orsay) is killed in a car crash. As her soul enters the gates of Heaven, she finds herself declared a self-centered “zero” by the gatekeeper, Fred (Ben Feldman). Not liking what she’s heard, she presses return, hoping to get back to Earth. Deb gets her wish but doesn’t end up in her own body. Instead, she finds herself deposited inside recently-deceased Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliott). Jane’s a highly-intelligent, plus-size attorney who was accidentally shot. Superficial Deb is initially horrified by her new form but in time begins to discover the meaning of inner beauty.
Though she has Jane’s form and legal knowledge, Deb doesn’t have Jane’s memories, making for some very uncomfortable situations. Things are made even tougher by the fact that Deb’s boyfriend, Grayson Kent (Jackson Hurst), works at the same law firm. She’d love to pick up their relationship but he’s still grieving for her former self. Hot-shot lawyer Kim Kasswell (Kate Levering) has always looked down on Jane because of her appearance and wants to start a relationship with Grayson now that Deb is “gone.”
Teri Lee (Margaret Cho) is Jane’s office assistant who tries to help her boss overcome her confusion. After sending Deb back to Earth, Fred is demoted to be her guardian angel and works in the firm’s mailroom to keep an eye on her. He ends up falling for aspiring actress/model Stacy Barnett (April Bowlby), Deb’s best friend and the only person to know the truth about Jane.
Episode #78 — It Had to Be You
While Owen and Kim attempt to talk some sense into Jane about her relationship with Ian, Stacy is caught in the middle. Meanwhile, Teri has her own grievances with Ian when she realizes he is her former classmate responsible for ruining her chances at stardom. Owen and Jane find themselves on opposite ends of a case while Kim represents her former temp when he’s fired from his temp agency.
First aired: JUne 22, 2014.
What do you think? Do you still like the Drop Dead Diva TV series? Do you think that it should end?
make new episodes and put them on netflix. I would watch them.
WHY? This show made me laugh, cry and I loved Jane…..Why did it have to go…I as a lot of people wander why the shows I like are cancelled…Too Bad so sad…Hard to find good clean programs.
This was 1 of a few great entertaining shows on TV. It is never enough episodes, as soon as u get in to it, the season is over. We have to wait months & months for it to start again. Now u cancel it for good! SHAME ON YOU!!!!! This is the best program on, plus no bad language! Sheer enjoyment. U should not have taken Grayson away. WOW, his eyes!! PLEASE bring it back, Great actors, they all compliment each other, that doesn’t happen often!!! Think about the fans of the show over money, profit, if u have a… Read more »
Apparently, the programmers at Lifetime feel the profit margins are not up to their standards, hence the cancellation of Drop Dead Diva. TPTB at Lifetime, have changed their target audience from 18-49 to somewhere around 22, max. Does any TV programmer really feel that “Keeping up with the Kardasians” or whatever their last name is, is worth anyone’s time to sit and watch or perhaps “The Real Housewives of Atlanta? I mean honestly people. I would suggest that, what are the programmers thinking, but that’s an oxymoron, they are not.
please don’t cancel…I love the show…..
I loved that show. Why was it cancelled? Always when I like a show it gets cancelled.(I hhgy
I’m so sorry to see it go but I knew when they got Ian and Jane together that there wasn’t going to be another season. So sad. It’s a really entertaining program. It’s a sin that reality programs are so cheap to make that they stay on when quality shows are canceled.
Love the show. Please for a season 7
Love the show! One of the few I always watch! Was disappointed in where they took the story towards the end…if they had more time, maybe they would have come up with some better situations…
Really…? Grayson comes back too? come on! Think harder…
Love the show. Hate to hear it’s been cancelled by Lifetime. Hope it gets picked up by another network. There aren’t many good shows like this one.
I love Drop Dead Diva and look forward to watching it every season. Please don’t cancel it.
Did they get new writers? Loved it till they killed Grayson and what in the world were they thinking? It was the last shows and it was like another series. Maybe and I do mean maybe if you had had it happen a year ago and we had a chance to Like the new Grayson . You cheated the loyal viewers. What were you thinking? You owe us an apology for the awful ending. It felt like it was slapped together. Not the great love story we expected.
Love the show hope you do not cancel
I really loved the show. I would love to see the show continue.
Love this show. Granted I found it late into it’s run, just this year. But, I have gone back and watched every episode. It is still entertaining, and one of very few shows that I, as an adult am not afraid to put on the TV when my kids are in the room.
