CBS has renewed most of its current lineup for the 2023-24 season with several renewals having been announced yesterday. However, the fates of East New York, Blue Bloods, and SWAT are still up in the air. Of the three, only Blue Bloods is produced solely by CBS’ production company, and ownership’s a key factor in the economics of network TV these days.
Per Deadline, negotiations are currently underway for Blue Bloods and SWAT to return for their respective 14th and seventh seasons.
With Blue Bloods, issues with budget cuts have delayed the decision for a renewal, but talks are now moving forward. Starring Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray, the Friday night drama follows the Reagans, a New York family with a history in law enforcement.
As for SWAT, negotiations have only just begun and there are no current issues that would make renewal unlikely. The police drama, which stars Shemar Moore, Alex Russell, Jay Harrington, Kenny Johnson, David Lim, and Patrick St. Esprit, has seen an increase in viewership since moving to Friday nights.
East New York is a new series, and it is on the bubble. It’s produced by an outside studio and that doesn’t help its chances. CBS executives will decide on that series’ fate once the new series True Lies has been released and two other drama pilots have been produced. With so many renewals of established shows, there aren’t many timeslots left available for newer programming.
CBS has currently renewed 19 of its current shows for the 2023-24 television season — 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Bob Hearts Abishola, CSI: Vegas, The Equalizer, FBI, FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted, Fire Country, Ghosts, Lingo, NCIS, NCIS: Hawai’i, The Neighborhood, So Help Me Todd, Survivor, Tough As Nails, and Young Sheldon.
What do you think? Do you want to see more of these CBS dramas next season? Would you be upset if Blue Bloods, SWAT, and/or East New York were cancelled?
Dump The Equalizer. It’s gone off its initial premise. Keep East New York. Much better show. Quality police procedural. Better writing and acting.
Please renew Blue Bloods and East New York. They are quality TV shows with characters that are believable.

East New York, Blue Bloods, will be renewed.
Very good shows, networks can’t afford to lose them.
Please renewal Swat l love my Swat family. The show made it mark on Friday night. I love the show a lots.
Please renew Blue Bloods. Best show. Along with actors and actresses. Please renew again.
Keep Swat. Cancel Blue Bloods-it has run its course. I watch East New York but not sure if it is a keeper. It seems somehow stilted & forced. But I love Richard Kind in this role.
Blue Bloods is the best show on television!
I hope CBS Renews Blue Bloods..it is such an Amazing show!
Renew Blue Bloods..Best Show on TV
Do not cancel Blue Bloods! The characters, the scripts, the photography are still the best of any channel.
East New York deserves renewal. The plots have been good enough and not too predictable, and I find myself liking everyone in the cast. As silly and unrealistic as So Help Me Todd is, I had to quit watching after about the 4th episode. I’ll watch Blue Bloods until the end, but it’s gotten so old and repetitive. SWAT is still one of my favorites.
Renew Blue Bloods
