Kevin James is returning to CBS this fall with Kevin Can Wait, but the actor revealed what happened to a comedy he was working on with Lionsgate. The project was first mentioned in 2013, but the planned sitcom fell through the cracks.
James said the following about what happened, according to The Wrap:
“It was such a rushed process. It just didn’t feel right. It just felt a little desperate? I don’t know, it felt weird.”
James also revealed that he wanted to do a comedy in front of an audience, and he has that with Kevin Can Wait.

I loved Kevin James in king of queens, I still watch reruns of it. There was great believable chemistry between James, Remini and Stiller. What a great cast, so good that kevin can wait in my opinion can’t even compete and that bothers me because I want it to work and it just doesn’t. Reasons why it doesn’t. No chemistry between the wife and james, fat father doesn’t always have to equal predictable fat kids, and we all know retired cops in some fashion or other and I don’t see them hanging out in the same pizzeria day after day.… Read more »
I still watch king of Queens and I can’t wait for this new show. Wouldn’t it be cool if remini played a bit part in the series. She could be a neighbor living with her dad after her house burnt down.
